Right now I am stuck on my suspension upgrade due to the ball joints. I can't get the ball joints off of the steering knuckle. I've wacked it all day with a pickle fork and hammer and it just won't come off. The rubber boot on the ball joint is already completey destroyed. It's been soaked in WD40 and it still won't budge.
Also, how do I get the nut off of the inner control arm ball joint that attaches to the engine cross member? I can't fit any of my tools in there to get enough leverage.

well since you already ruined the boots just whack the top of the ball joint (the bolt part) with a hammer until it comes out. Unless you plan on putting on new boots and keeping the tie rod.
If the ball joint that bolts to the front subframe is spinning when you are loosening the nut, put a jack under the control arm to push the bolt into the subframe and keep it from spinning.

I think your suppose to press them on and off on a press. there also is a tool that helps you do it with it on the car. Dont think it will work with just the hammer though. Let me know how it goes becuase im gonna be doing them this weekend. Thanx

Here is what I ended up doing. I wasn't able to remove the ball joint from the steering knuckle, so I took off the entire control arm with the steering knukcle attached. Very awkward, but it was the only way I could have taken everything out. Once put of the car, I had room the hammer the thing and it finally came off.
Now I am running into trouble with the inner ball joint on my left control arm. The nut on the engine cross member isn't going anywhere and it is PITA to get to. I sprayed it down with WD40 and will let it soak overnight. Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon it should come out easily.
