What type of milage does a supercharged M3 get? Someone is claiming 30 mpg with 400 whp. Is this possible?

Honestly not trying to be rude but it's not terribly important, if my M3 was supercharged i would probolly get like 10mpg cause i would be on the throttle all the time..

It's not for me, I was just wondering if it was possible to get that type of MPG. I know stock it's supposed to be around 26 with around 200 whp, so I didn't think you would be able to double the power and increase the MPG at the same time.

Do a search and you'll find your answer...

First of all, whp isn't indicative of fuel mileage efficiency, your right foot is.

Second of all, 30mpg on any e36 m3 seems awfully high. I get about 10 track/18 city/23 highway on my supercharged car.

If the person is using their OBC to report mileage, that could be the source of the error as the computer is not accounting for the larger injectors. My computer reports anywhere from 30-40mpg on a given tank.

Ditto on the mileage. Also, my OBC records 8mpg higher than actual (shows 31 mpg when it's actually 23 mpg) after "resetting" it as far as it can go.

So the OBC off by that much all the time? Anyone know why?

I reset mine during the week and seem to average 23-24mpg...highway drive at 3000rpms and some throttling onto the highway and at lights.

I dont think 30mpg is accurate at all based on my consumption (M3 sedan).

It is possible to increase HP and increase MPG. If his car is tuned well and he's only counting a 300 mile road trip with just freeway driving, it might be possible to get 30 mpg.

This is a quote from the person who's friend owns the M3.

"a full day of floorbording the gas pedal bearly ran down just over 1/3 of a gas tank..."

Now I know that it can be tuned for good MPG, but he's pretty much putting down 2x the power of a stock M3. If you're flooring a 400 whp car, it's not gonna get you a 30 mpg like he says.

Finally, someone who gets as bad mileage as I do.. Living in White Plains, I do alot of around-town driving. You know.. the worst kind for mileage.. So any way, with no hwy driving, ie, only stop and go, in town type driving, I get about 14 mpg. A mixed mode driving tankful gets me aobut 17 mpg. And a hwy only type of driving gets me near 20 mpg. Comparing to what Boris and his Turbo tell me, hes consistantly around 20% better mileage. It seems that the way the turbo chops up the exhaust pulses, it not only makes a muffler nearly unnecessary, but it also assists gas mileage. The supercharger, on the other hand, is a constant drag on the engine. But as has been said, the Biggest drag on the engine is YOUR RIGHT FOOT! :help

According to my MPH guage I get like 30+ if that is what you wanna see.......But I seem to never get that for some odd reason. If you are worried about gas mileage just do not supercharge our car or buy a supercharged car I mean I get like 20 on the interstate which is not bad seeming as my GS400 gets close to the same. Goes back to the old saying "YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY".
Good luck finding a high MPH car that is fast and fun to drive I hear the Honda Insight is mighty spunky but I have not seem it doing very well on a skid pad
