View Full Version : Off-topic posts belong in the off-topic forum...
Kevlar 06-02-2005, 10:43 AM Just a reminder guys... All off-topic posts belong in the off-topic forum!
If we find that you are posting off-topic material in the regional forum, the posts will be moved. Plus, depending on the nature of the material, your posting privledges will be suspensed or revoked completely.
We hate to lay down the law like this, but any material that may be questionable or portray a negative image of the forum will force us to take swift action.
Thanks for understanding...
chasmanbmwfan 06-02-2005, 10:51 AM I just reviewed the "Rules of the Road" and didn't find a single word defining what constitues "off topic."
Explain.
chmdrm 06-02-2005, 10:56 AM I'm also wondering.
Off topic as in non BMW or Off topic as in non Utah.
Kevlar 06-02-2005, 11:15 AM Off-topic is reserved for subject matters and content which are questionable or objectionable in the main forums. Picture of scantily clad women, or conversations that might otherwise offend someone or get them in trouble for browsing at work must be made in the off-topic area.
This area is reserved for this relating to the Utah region and/or BMWs... preferably both.
gtiguy 06-02-2005, 03:45 PM ... Picture of scantily clad women, or conversations that might otherwise offend someone or get them in trouble for browsing at work must be made in the off-topic area. ...
I am the one guilty of posting a possibly offensive pic of Ms Adrienne Barbeau in front of her Lambo in a tight driving suit. I have removed it because I don't want to offend anyone or get anyone in trouble at work.
This is at the top of the page ... maybe someone would consider this a pic of a scantily clad woman.

Tonus 06-02-2005, 04:05 PM yes I am curious what subjects and content fall in "off-topic?!" :rolleyes This is your guys forum (thank you moderators) but, this is the region section and the Utah sub-forum is used by people that we all know personally here locally in Utah. So what is deemed off-topic to some is just local car news and other stories of interest that actually affect us here in Utah. If we didn't know each other it might get out of hand I will admit, like the larger wide spread forums like Cali. thanks again moderators for all you do, I was just testing the grounds of off-topic because I wanted to make your job harder....... :devillook .....no just kidding, but really how long can questions about "noise in engine" or "brakes smell funny, should I replace??" last before some adds their own remark that sends the thread into a completely different arena??!!! :D :cool :D

Notice the "and/or" ... this place is where you can hang out with your buddies and talk about anything (preferably related to Utah), but you have to see that some people eventually complain when the forum goes that far off-topic or when they open up a thread at work and their boss in standing behind them and get fired (oh I love when I get complaints like that... makes my day so much better).
Remember, some people surf while at work and objectionable material may get them, reprimanded.

Yes, I find that banner to be very offensive. It should be located in the off-topic area. LOL But seriously, gtiguy makes a good point, I noticed the Moderator didn't respond...

Kevlar, we appreciate the service this forum (and the moderators) provide to us, letting us post here. But really, you can't hold yourselves or us responsible for what people do at their job. If they're jacking off and get fired, it's really their own problem. Their boss would have just as much grounds for firing them for slacking during office hours looking at BMW forums (if it's not work-related) then he would for firing them over looking at "objectionable" material. Either way, they're not doing their job.
Just my $0.02.
Antwerp 06-02-2005, 06:31 PM Couldn't this thread have been handled in a PM?
What is this OT you guys are talking about?
Teh Slows 06-02-2005, 08:38 PM Might as well put us back in southwest, as or posting is going to drop considerably
euro4life 06-02-2005, 08:55 PM Or we just need to put NWS after something that is not work safe.
I think we can handle ourselves ok. Plus, we all know each other very well. If something were out of line, we would mention it at one of our meets.
Scott, no more scantily clad women commercials unless you put an "NWS" on the end. That goes for YOU too Ant.
Antwerp 06-02-2005, 08:59 PM :dunno
I like teh boobies... :D
Jedi801 06-02-2005, 09:09 PM bwahahhaha... Most people's avatars are NWS. The people that are gonna get in trouble for looking at pix0rs of girls are the same people that are not supposed to be browsing the web at work at all.
Kevlar 06-03-2005, 04:01 PM Sorry guys... no NWS posting is allowed outside of the off-topic forum. It is an agreement with our vendors and providers. All off-topic posts should also be placed in the OT arena, however, we do understand that there is a gray area sometimes. Having multiple forums that do not pertain to regional or bmw conversations only pollutes the forums making our content to crap ratio unnecessarily high. I know many members do not like that, plus, vendors also have been known to pull their supporting dollars when they find that the crap and random thoughts outweighs the genuine content of the forum.
So... to keep this place running as nice and smooth as possible, try and keep it within the rules.

That really ticks me off. How does it happen?
