ok so i posted this on the e46 thread but no help yet.....here it is, basically when i slow down like coming to a stop light when i lift my foot off the gas as the tach hits around 1000 it idles up on its own momentarily and then it goes down to 0 when i finally stop.....is this a normal condition on auto trannys, i have the sport pkg. :help

I forgot to mention that i just got the car about two weeks ago.

The tach should not hit 0. That means that your car stalled. Does it stall? The revving up is normal, its just the tranny downshifting on its own. My E30 does the same thing. Its not a good thing for the engine to stall when slowing down. That would either mean bad clutch packs or a bad torque converter.
