I've been looking around various places like AutoTrader, Ebay and enthusiast sites and it seems that the 89-earlier cars have significantly higher asking prices than they did a couple of years ago when I first started looking at them.

Am I imagining things, or are prices starting to take off? Or are there just that many sellers who believe that there will be more interest (and therefore reason for higher prices) on the old 6 series because of the new? Perhaps they're right?

I've already started a casual search (meaning I'll jump on the right car if it comes along, but I'm not scouring the classifieds obsessively just yet) in hopes of finding something by the end of the year, but it's seeming as though I'm going to have to spend far more money than originally hoped. :/ Ah well.

i would imagine that some sellers are taking advantage of the re- introduction of the new 6.i haven't been watching prices as long as you have.i simply stumbled on my 1st one last oct. while searching for a replacement for my daughters car.so i ended up with a brand new, used car myself.in my search for parts i then stumbled across the one i own now and had to sell the 1st one.
i got a great deal, but still have a long way to go on it.you need to ask yourself if you what to spend little up front and spend as you go along(which is the route i'm taking)or option 2-if you've got the $$$$,buy one that needs little.that's the preferable way to go,but my wallet said NO.i still get to enjoy driving mine and know i'll have much invested before i'm done.more than i'd be able to sell it for,but i dont plan on selling.
