View Full Version : Halos, Splitters, and fog light inserts... HELP
jcampos 05-30-2005, 11:07 PM I want to do a few exterior modifications to my M3, but I really dont know about what products are high quality and which are cheap knock offs. For example, there are two different sets of fog light/brake duct inserts I have run across and I want to know why the price difference is so huge... one is from Bimmian.com, and the other is from AC Schnitzer. On Bimmians site, they say that these are stuck into place using a putty.... is it the same for the Schnitzers?
Also, ive run across gajillions of different Angel Eyes. WHAT THE HELL IS THE DIFFERENCE?!?!! Which are most visible and last the longest? Are this a pain to install on an '05????? Most of the sites ive seen say that they fit up to '04s.
As far as front splitters go, I really like the look of the AC Schnitzer. Are there any other good looking ones out there that I may not have run across yet??
Last of all.... Ive seen that bimmian.com tries to charge $60 and others try to charge even more for "xenon" interior bulbs... that is completely rediculous!! Does anyone know the what size bulbs to use on the interior of these cars and where I can find them? Ive used autolumination.com before as they seem to have good prices and quick shipping.... but I dont know which bulbs to buy!
thanks for the help :redspot

jcampos 06-01-2005, 12:12 PM Anyone??? :shifty
Kevlar 06-01-2005, 01:00 PM I didn't know ACS made fog light inserts... I know Hamann makes some, but they are pricey. The bimmian ones look just fine. If they are made out of fiberglass, they are going to chip up pretty bad, mine did.
As for angel eyes... www.umnitza.com is where I got mine and I couldn't be happier. Install was easy and they are super bright.

DDE Lightning Titanium
Are this a pain to install on an '05?????
Nope, installation is very easy. Takes about an hour total.
Most of the sites ive seen say that they fit up to '04s.
That's because they're too lazy to update their sites ;) DDE Lighting halos fit all E46 M3 models perfectly.

When I was talking about ACS, I was referring to their front splitter. What do most E46 M3 drivers put on their car??? Not that I want to be like the rest, I just want to see what others are using.
Thanks for the answers on the halos by the way and the insight on the fiberglass fog light inserts.

Kevlar 06-01-2005, 11:20 PM The ACS splitter is big time money... I'm not a big fan of it, I used to be, but it's gotten a bit old for my personal tastes. At this point in time, if I had to buy one, I'd probably get a CSL bumper or a Hartge splitter. Both of those look decent on the car. However, the ACS splitter is the most popular.
jcampos 06-01-2005, 11:48 PM thanks ;)
jcampos 06-05-2005, 02:45 PM As for the DDE Lightning Titanium Halos.... I really need to know why on umnitza.com it says this: FITS ALL CARS - Except 2004-5 BMW E46 3-series Coupes
yet you said it fits all E46 M3 models.... Im sure they "fit", but do they fit the '04-'05 the same as the '01, '02, '03??
bimmer95 06-05-2005, 03:18 PM The E46 M3s never switched to the "facelift" headlights that the newer non-M3 coupes use.

thanks ;) Do the DDE lights have instructions with them or is there a good place I can find instructions online??
bimmer95 06-06-2005, 12:24 AM Here you go, http://www.understeer.com/pdf/e46dde.pdf
I'd recommend pulling the headlights apart without removing them from the car. It's much easier that way.
