These pictures pretty much all suck. I got there too late and it was dark. I messed with them some in Photshop to make them even half decent, but... alas, it was just too dark out. If at first you don't suceed, try, try again.

Geordie, I'll hit you up re: Monday, but I think it is supposed to rain. I'm pretty much free whenever though.

Pictures have the potential to be hot. But, they've got tons of graininess in them, colors don't seem to be accurate, and the white balance seems to be off a little. I'd see if they can be doctor'd anymore.

I'm a camera n00b, but I'll still throw in my n00b recommendation. Looks like if you would have turned the ISO down but upped the shutter time you'd get rid of the graininess. Lower ISOs also tend to make the colors a little brighter. Looking good tho' - you just need a big wing on the back. That'd really set it off!

How were those bums at BP? :)

Mostly it's a location scout. It was late - around 8:30 and I wanted to at least take some pics.

I just left the camera on my small 6" tripod on auto mode. You should see the originals... VERY VERY dark. The 5th pic for example, you can't even see the car in the original. So, these are pretty hacked. As far as the color balance, as it got darker, the parking lot lights started to take over. I'll do a few more location scout shoots (maybe even the BP ;)) and then I'll try for real, including being out there at the right time, white balancing and exposure bracketing.

I'm not sure I like the parking deck thing. Too common. and it puts a concrete band around the car level. The sky ends up too bright and the car too dark.

A wing eh? I'd settle for just getting the coolant changed. I have odd priorities I guess.

Also, these look a bit brighter now that I'm seeing them on my PC. I corrected the levels on my Mac. Damn gamma madness. I gotta recalibrate my Mac to make it more PC like.

... on my Mac...

I take back what I previously said - it looks like we've found your problem. :devillook

Where were the ones taken with the BOA Plaza bldg in the background? I wanna take my car at that location spot one day.

Here is a raw unretouched pic. The colors are right, just too dark. As it got darker, some of the exposures were around 1", so, that's where the grain comes from. Seems like 7:30 would be a good time to start shooting pics. Maybe even 7, to avoid the parking deck lights altogether.

Yeah, I'd start around 7 at the latest. Mixed lighting is the devil when you're trying to set WB, and they'll make some weird reflections too.

And... next time try to make the skyscrapers go straight up and down. :stickoutt

You guys are teh harsh. I start out by saying "these pictures suck" and you guys just PILE IT ON!

I was tired, in a wife beater, sweaty from hd cleanse and waxing the car all damn day, and laying on my stomach in a parking deck dorking around with a hand sized tripod peering into a 1" LCD. When I release non trial run pics... the people will be pleased, subject to the limitations of my 3 year old 3.3MP camera, which still takes a good pic if there is plenty of light.

Zymol? Too much effort and not enough results for the money. I tried that stuff a couple of years ago and ran screaming to Griot's and Klasse.

Those pictures are a good start.

I actually rather like HD Cleanse. No harder than waxing really. The smell, of course, is pretty good, but it does feel like it's good for the paint in an oily kind of way. I have a smallish car, and the roof is easy to get to and the hood is the only large piece of metal on the car. I have a whole box of various goo actually. Meguirs (sp?), Griots, 3M, etc.

Those pictures are a good start.
Lies, the pics are no good. I was mostly seeing what angles are working and what the light needs are gonna be. My light needs are gonna be... more light.
