My alarm goes off randomly about once a day. I have just replaced the battery so I don't think thats the problem. I know that there is supposed to be a vent on off setting in the clock menu to turn venting on and off but mione only has clock set so I can not tell of this feature is on or off or even exists on my cart :( . Does anyone have any suggestions also car is parked on a level surface.
Car 97 528i
business cd radio with cassete up front 6 disk in back
Thanks

sounds like a door switch (to tell if the door is closed) and moreso the hood one.
tape them down and see if that helps (all, then one at a time and replace the one that is bad)

Ok JP do you know the location of the hood switch. The larm is the factory one installed by BMW. Also alarm seems to go off everyday between 10am and 2pm. I live in a apartment complex and need to get this fixed quick. Don't really have BMW troubleshooting fee
Thanks

the hood switch will be in the forward area of the engine compartment, usually on the passenger firewall. it will look like a little black box with a sliver peice of metal with a spoon shaped end (facing down) on it. usually that little bugger is the culprit. you can shove crap (three pennies taped together works magnificiently) between the black box and the metal tab; but just to test it.
In the same area, is the siren; if it gets that bad.

Help I still can't find hood switch. The alarm has gone off last three days between 1000 and 1400. Only seems to happen once a day  Here are some pictures of the engine bay can someone put an arrow where they think the hood switch is. Remember car is 97 BMW 528i. has air conditioning filters in place where jp thought switch was I think.
Thanks Greg

the actual sensor inside the car could have gone out as well. This same thing happened to my father with his 740. He took it to the stealer and after they replaced the interior sensor all the problems went away.
edit: 1000 posts!!!! :buttrock :redspot :phatyo: :pimpflash :b_multi :b_pink

Ok back off vacation and was able to look at switch. It was not connected so I’m going to hook it back up. Does anyone know if the alarm checks to see if this switch is hooked up and if that might be the reason the alarm is going off daily. I suspect that tthis is not the problem but will need a day to check it out. Does anyone know where the interior sensor is located so I can go after it next.
Thanks
