View Full Version : HPC vs. PC = can NE1 explain the difference to me?

I need to get a few things powdercoated for the engine. I saw a thread a while back where Makr mentioned HPC, and someone here had had some items done (HPC)...

What's the difference? Is there an advantage to HPC? My powdercoater does stuff for me at a great price, so I'd likely just to plain ol' PC unless there's a reason to go the other route.

Can anyone shed some light for me? :help

The HPC I have had done were only in the silver that is suppose to dirrect heat away from the engine, I dont think PC has the same ability to wic heat?!? I did the intake, exhaust, valve cover, filter cover. Here is the pic again...

HPC is a thermal coating that can keep heat in. regular old powder coating just makes stuff look good.

Std PC is only good to about 450 or so temp wise before it burns too. You can get hi temp stuff that is good 1000, I just picked up some if it and will try it on the race car, but don't know how it works yet.

The std stuff is good for anything other then exhaust parts. I've used it on everythign from valve covers, to intake tubes with no issues.

I am going to get my exhaust manifold and turbo done. Not sure of the hp gain, but it sure looks nice.
