Dinan does not recommend cleaning and reusing their CAI filters. They look like K&N units and I have cleaned and reused mine. Anyone know if they are K&Ns and do you reuse yours or just replace them with new filters?

I replaced mine. Didn't want to chance any oil from the refresh cleaning or other debis flowing up to the intake on these sensitive machines. But that is just me.

A new, out of the box K&N is a damn sight cheaper than a new out of the box mass air sensor,...like 10 times cheaper.

Keep oil away from the MAS.

i recently had an M5 succumb to k+n oil in the mass air flow sensors and they were brand new filters. thankfully i was able to clean them. just get a new dinan filter.

How frequent do you recommend replacing the filter? You guys are getting me worried...

Quarterly, I remove, inspect, and brush off any particulate matter from the outside of the filter.
If there are no obvious holes or punctures your filter should be good for 100k miles or more.

You should be if you oiled the filter.

at $50 a pop i can't really complain about replacing the filter. the more annoying part is pulling my front bumper off.

If you can lift the car, you can pull back the inner fender and replace the filter without pulling the bumper.
