Music Midtown this year is more like Music Letdown. Over the past few years there was always MANY acts that we all loved to see (ie: Hoobastank,Puddle of Mudd, Trapt, Foo Fighters, Offspring, Bush, Godsmack, and so on) This year they don't have anyone. www.musicmidtown.com I will definetly not be going this year. And I really think it's almost too late to be letting us know of any additional acts to come. Has anyone heard any rumours of anyone else coming?

A few acts I would love to see there would be
Linkin Park / Seether/
Breaking Benjamin/ Incubus/
Alterbridge/ Audioslave/
Trust Company
What about you guys? Who would ya'll like to see?

There are actually several bands that I would love to see that will be there. Including:
White Stripes, The Killers, Coheed and Cambria, Def Leppard, Interpol, Keane, The Pixies, Trances Arc, Red Letter Agent, Public Enemy.....

The only thing that really sucks is how late it is and how frickin' hot it will be.

I didn't realize they jacked it up that much. Still not too bad if you are willing to spend all weekend down there. Don't think I will be going though.

I haven't it heard anything about it. But now that I have, no way am I going this year. Lets count the reasons:
1. no great bands
2. the weather will be hotter
3. the tickets are more expensive
4. the beer costs too much

yep.. definately not going..

I don't know about that! $30 to see Digital Underground and OutKast on the same stage was well worth it!

Dude, all of the bands i mentioned are prime examples of 99X ish bands. And last year the 99X stage had BY FAR the largest crowd in front of it when the headliners were playing. I could see where some would not like Linkin Park, but the others I mentioned are bad ass..... Actually... if Seether/Breaking Benjamin/Incubus/Alterbridge /Audioslave/Trust Company/ was the proposed line-up for the 99 X stage.... who here would vote for it? Come on.... :buttrock

There are some good bands still and it isn't that expensive..i might still go...I wish someone would step up and setup a huge trance fest in midtown like miami style and bring tiesto..armin..PVD..oaky...gabrielle and dresden..that would be the shit..I would pay even 200 for just a day..

Too expensive? Seriously? :lol Maybe we're all just a little spoiled from the price being so low in years past. But when was the last time you could see more than one headliner band for 70 bucks? I'm gonna say a good decade. This year might not be the best line-up ever, but there are some pretty great bands playing. Let's just start with, um, The Pixies. :buttrock It'll be Devo's first appearance in forever, a groundbreaking band waaay ahead of it's time. And then there's Lou Reed, Tom Petty, White Stripes, Interpol, even Black Eyed Peas and Kid Rock for the bubblegum crowd. :redspot

Here's a suggestion. If the price of beer is the issue, don't drink. Buy a lemonade and fill it up with water after you're done from all the free water stands. :D But if you must drink, well, the obvious way to supplement your wallet is to bring a roll of toilet paper with you. Come on. By 6:00, there won't be any TP left in any of the Port-a-Johns. Charge a buck for a wad of TP and you'll never go thirsty again. The potential to turn the whole weekend into a free experience is there just waiting for someone with a little chutzpah. :alright

Puddle of Mudd is the worst "band" of all time. Seriously. I can't believe you said they were bad ass. I kind of want to punch you. Actually, I really want to punch you.

Tom Petty is going to be there, quit whining.

There's a growing backlash against mainstream music amongst the pseudo-intellectual types who like to think that they are enlightened because they say things like "Puddle of Mudd is the worst band ever". They have zero basis for such a statement, other than the fact that they have heard the band on the radio and/or seen them on MTV, which immediately reduces a group to sell-out status. These are the people who "like" bands because they are little-known but as soon as the same band gains notoriety, they will stop liking them, call them sell-outs and move on to the next "best group".

You'll find a lot of the people of which I speak on the Internet, not coincidentally. Seriously, check out any of the "blogging" sights, such as Livejournal, and you'll find the majority of the people on there bad-mouth anything mainstream. They seriously think it makes them cool.

Well I personally think most of those bands listed suck ass from a talent perspective, irregardless that the entire genre makes me want to drink a gallon of antifreeze.

Many people don't like them because they feel that the ONLY reason they're popular is because they are sell-outs. I think most of those bands were in the right place at the right time to get a good record deal and put out some trendy pop that fits right in with the current TRL-state of the music scene for younger kids. That's cool if people like it, because obviously many do, but that's not what I call "making music."

Most of the people that work in the music industry feel the same way...

BTW - I like plenty of stuff I'd call "really popular," and I'm sure Kyle does as well. Matt, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. He probably likes Britney Spears and lists the first "Backstreet Boys" album as his all-time favorite. ;)

Actually, Puddle of Mudd sucks because their music is bad.
Being "mainstream" has nothing to do with it.

I agree..stop trying to copy others styles and come up with something original...having been in bands and having a great love for all kinds of music(except country) as long as there is talent behind it..there is nothing wrong with a band or person going mainstream..I just can't stand the idiots who don't know anything about the band or the music or what it means acting like they have been their greatest fans all their lives...Just enjoy the music and don't go past that...

You're right Ron, I'm into only underground stuff such as the Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, 311, Bush, Pearl Jam, STP, Weezer, and a few older small groups such as Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones.

Puddle of Mudd how should I say this... sucks. I hardly ever listen to the radio so I wouldn't even know how much they're played, but the little bit I've heard of them on it has made me change the station quickly.

I don't care how big or small a band is as long as they don't sound like Puddle of Mudd.

errr, if you pay 70 bucks to see 1 headliner, you are getting ripped off. I won't pay more than 30 to see 1 main band, and usually the shows where i pay 30, i like the openers too. And actually the only show i've paid 30 to see, it was a double headliner... Most of the shows i got to are about 10-15 bucks.

Basically you're paying 70 bucks to see 20 bands you don't want to see, 4 bands you might kinda want to see, and 2 band that you want to see. That is not a deal to me. I'll save my money for when the bands i WANT to see come and tour around again.
