Hey people,
Installed new set of slotted rotors and went to the track this weekend. To my supprise I noticed that the pads are wearing the inside portion of the rotors more than the outside. So much wear, that the slots are pretty much worn thru. I thought that this problem would be solved with the installation of the turner brake caliper bushings? Any idea of getting the pads to wear more evenly so i can get more than just 2 DE events on a set of front rotors?

and no a BBK is not an option.

It's not normal for pads to eat away at rotors, it's supposed to be the other way around. What kind of rotors are they?

The caliper guide pins are sticking.

They are turner's slotted rotors. Im used to rotor wear when using hawk blues but not the uneven wear.

thoes are the pins i coat with an excessive amount of anti seize?
I have noticed though when i now install the calipers its sometimes very hard to install the pins..

Do you have the stock pins or aftermarket pins with solid bushings? Either way, I've never had a need to use excessive amounts of lubrication. Are you sure your brake pads are installed correctly? Are they hanging up in the caliper anywhere?

using the pins that came with the bushings. Pads are installed correctly, and when i put the new rotors on i made sure i cleaned all the surfaces and applied some anti sieze to prevent any hanging.. Its very strange.. Could the torque on the pins cause this?

i thought the caliper pins were not supposed to be lubricated?

russ - They need some lubrication if you are using the solid guide pin bushings.

First try with solid guide pins I used antiseize & they got gummy. Switched to synthetic caliper grease & allz well so far.

well i looked at the d/s rotor and pads, they seemed to wear a little more even.

I guess the consensus is I need to reclean all the guide pins, slopp them with the synthetic brake caliper lube!

Hopefully this will work. The rate im going now it will cost less to pick up a bbk. :rolleyes
