I have a 2000 528I with 34k miles and original tires. This car has been stored every winter.

I am noticing some dry rot on two of the tires. Is there a formula that I can apply to the tires to stop / heal / inhibit dry rot?

I don't put many miles on the car and I would hate to have to buy new tires every five years because of dry rot.

Also - what can I do to prevent this while in storage (cold)?

Thanks for your input!

This is my first posting here.

The best thing to do is not put amorall or tire dressing on the tires. Keep them clean and if you can up on blocks when stores for a long period of time.
Park out of the elements when possible.

Aren't you supposed to change the tires every 5 years even if they aren't worn out?

I would say it really depends on the condition of the tires. As long as they have no cracking or dry rot you should be fine.

That's good news. I asked this because the last tire I got (I buy it for the spare) was made in 2002... I thought I would need to buy another one in 2007.
