Looks like a serious set up man, very nice. You have any more pics of the M and maybe a couple of the GT3, thanks.

awesome pics. how much weight do you think has been removed now without carpet and rear seats, etc? how much did the rollbar add back? what kind of rollbar? is it competition approved for SCCA or BMWCCA?

and the remote reservoir shocks are really cool, too.

Please note, that fong specifically said 'rollbar' not 'cage'.

BTW, is the Route 66 bar still open in Wellington? Had a few pints there in Feb '91.

See you out there John, if I make it there with the Recaros and the noise hahaha

Jay,

Are you coming down to drive with us?

Yo, Fongster, how does the M3 do at the track vs. the GT3? My buddy has a GT3 & I'm curious how I will do on the track with him. I have full aftermarket suspension (coilovers, motons...), he's stock. I'm also FI & have more power than him. Thanx!

As of now, my next event is PDC on 7/11. Then TMR on 7/29. I'm looking at a date in June at Portland (PIR)....maybe. I just can't seem to get my trailer pointed north, except on the way home from norcal ;)

I'll be sporting a new TC Kline D/A Coilover suspension and adjustable camber plates and new 95 M3 control arms and bushings. I'm expecting a bit more noise out of the monoball RSMs.

Alot has to do with driver.

M3 with coilover overs are far more neutral and easier to drive. However, if you are comfortable with a "twitchy" car and rear weighted cars like the Porsches, they are faster, no comparison with regards to straight line speed. At Thill, the GT3s are more than 25mph faster down the front straight..

All in all, driver is the key factor, though the GT3 is without a doubt faster, just a matter of one's ability to put it down and keep it down..:)

So you're saying a GT3 will hit 150mph, or more, on the front straight at T'hill?

Yeah I dont know. Last time I was there, Radicals were hitting ~155 there, and I kinda doubt a stock GT3 could keep up with one of those.

With a 3.46 diff I'm getting into the rev limiter at the end of the front straight,
~125mph at the first marker (#3). A couple of guys I know driving Z06's are
~135mph at the same point, and they are running 2:06's in basically stock config
with exception of r-comps and track pads. No power adders. Both drivers admit
to leaving time all over the track in the interest of driving the cars home.

150mph+ out of a GT3? Questionable.

whats all the work to the rear struts? whats all that shenanigans?

I was in a GT3 that hit 145mph..had r compounds on.

I am basing the +25mph based on my slow butt on the front straights...I can only manage 120mph down the front...:)

Damn, 145 is moving on T'hill front straight. I've yet to see a well driven GT3 keeping pace
with well driven Z06's.. not to take this off topic..

I've seen your dynos, btw, 120 is sandbagging!!

Car looks good, Tony will be doing my IP cage this summer.

Yeah I know, a half cage (or "rollbar") is a compromise though, I was just sh!t stirring. :)

No Route 66 anymore, changed alot since '91.
Prolly time for a revisit, esp. if we get the ozzy V8 supercars on the streets here for 2006!!

Change! It's usually not for the better. I couldn't believe the recent pictures I saw of the Auckland skyline. And what is that god awful structure next to the Cathedral in Christchurch? Please tell me they've not messed with Rotorua.

Dam J.A.F.A's!! :)

Rotovegas (as they call it now) is much the same, amenities have evolved with time, but no major scars on the landscape.
You be pleased to know they have built 2 more luge tracks though, both about 2x as long as the original.

I went on a school trip to the luge once, one of the guy's fell off on the highspeed bit after the dipper, lost both butt cheaks, farking funny, poor guy.

Back on topic, How have you mounted your seats? On sliders??
I have got mine mounted to the floor, sucks a bit not having any adjustment, but it was easy.
