Hi,

I just wanted to give an update on the install of the VF Engineering supercharger kit being installed on my 2000 540/6. The top tube with "VF" on it will be a one piece tube by next week. Nik at VF is making the mold for the new tube as we speak. The only thing I'm waiting on is for GIAC to encrypt thier software for my car. I should have it on the road by mid-next week. The rest of the pics I have can be seen at link to sc pics http://kodakgallery.com/BrowsePhotos.jsp?&collid=572688325203&page=1&sort_order=0

Where did ya get it?
How much was it?
What are the techy specs?

Does it come in M60 size(is it available for the E34 540)?

I want one!

It was $6k for the kit, running 6.5 lbs boost, putting down 360-370 rwhp. VF-Engineering is doing everything (they are in Anaheim). They do a really nice job on the plumbing, all rotomilled plastic that they make in house. The top toub that says VF will be one piece next week. Nik at VF is making the mold as we speak. I'm not sure if they have the M60 kit out, but you can check with them at www.vf-engineering.com

You guys aren't running intercoolers? I don't think I am either.

Awesome mod! Congrats.

Now about the air filter; I understand not wanting excess heat, but with the setup you have now, don't you think you are limiting your airflow to the cone? Maybe a closed off section of the hood space would work more efficiently, with direct airflow sourced to it...

Nice, congrats...I'm hearing good things about VF.

Give us a review when everything is done.

Will do. I'll do a write up and post before and after dyno's. The before dyno's will be with Dinan Stage 2 software and CAI.

The only thing I would be worried about is the low location of the airfilter when you drive through a pudddle. On my S/C system the airfilter is behind the headlight/back of bumper.Quality look top-notch.

Looks sweet. I always thought s/c was sketchy but now that Alpina's doing it, its almost a factory approved power option. :cool

from the vf engineering page: " All current street supercharging systems are not CARB approved, unless otherwise noted."

Bummer. I thought it was getting harder to 'grease' the techs doing carb testing in CA nowadays? Its annoying enough that they get to harass your ride on the rolling road.

The dude who did my Saab Aero when i was selling it had no problem revving the nuts off it 'to set it up' but had to ask me to back it out since he couldn't find reverse. :confused

Anyway, rant off, nice ride. Shoot some 40-60 videos when its all set up... wicked.

Nice pics, eager to hear how you like it. That seems like a reasonable price.

We can probably do that. I'll get Dan (DanB) on roadfly and a couple of others together. Dan has the Dinan s/c 540. Let me look at my schedule and see what day works.
