I finally got new wheels for my M3. They are 17" BBS RZ, have a 38mm offset, and weigh 22 lbs each (right around stock for my '95).

I hurriedly made a webpage for them but the pictures turned out all jaggy; I'll fix it later tonight.

Dude, those a sweet. Couple of notes:

Those centercaps are just plain bad ass. I really dig em. Great integrated look.

Also, I've grown to like the BBS centercap better than the roundel center caps. I have both for my BBS's, and the BBS ones clearly look better.

The finish on them appear to be the same as the finish on my RX's. That sort of pearly silver luster doesn't seem to be the common finish found on many wheels, including other BBS wheels, and certainly not OE M3 wheels. It's a great, subtle effect w/o going all the way to a polished wheel.

Cool that you went with a less common wheel. Unless the Rack starts carrying them, I bet you'll continue to have a pretty unique set.

Wow:mdrbig ...bling...bling...bling:buttrock . I might have to settle on the RZ instead of RK or RK II. Man...I wish I have a raise coming too!!!:bawl . Can I borrow yours for the DTM meet ???kekeke

Thanks for the replies.

Jeff - I like the centercaps too. It was part of the reason I liked them. The only other ones w/centercaps I like are RCs and Jeff B already has those so I can't get em (and $$$) :D
Only problem w/these centercaps is they are snap-in instead of screw-on (like the RC) so are not as securely fastened. The only thing holding them on is the plastic piece w/the BBS logo...

The silver is awesome, especially since they're brand new and so shiny (and waxed!).

Tony - these are cheaper than RKs (though heavier) and waaaay cheaper than RKIIs. One of the cheaper (underrated?) BBS wheels...

hey man, looks good, esp with the painted calipers and floating rotors. i think you need some new springs or a coilover kit to help compliment the car :)

Thanks guys.
Ali - They don't make these in 18" for the E36.
Plus, they would be too heavy and expensive. I was going for an affordable wheel/tire combo, and got everything for $1750.

man, your car is AWESOME!
I tried to find pics on the web of RZs on any car, but my web searches turned up nothing. I went ahead and ordered the RZs anyway because I liked them and they were kinda rare. Then I saw the pics of them on your ride and knew I had made the right choice!
I was glad they turned out good on my car too!

18's just weigh more and offer no performance advantages given today's advanced tire technology. In addition, they put more of the mass of the wheel/tire combo further from the rotational axis.

18's would be nice on the track though, as I can get used race slicks (slicks, not DOT R's) from the Ferrari guys for cheap cheap cheap. Those tires are badass! :D

BJ...I'll have to wait til the rain stop to take some pics...man..never see so much rain in TX. BTW...on the tirerack site...does it recommend how much air pressure to put in the tires.? I have the Pirelli P Zero Rosso assymetrico. I think the prev owner have them at 38 psi..seems a little bit high but he said max pressure is 44 and the manufacturer recommend 10% less than the max press. does this sounds right?

I'm just now getting Yahoo mails from last Thursday about meeting up.

Something was definetely screwed up.

And...I don't know the owner from Adam. One of old work buddies knows him. Couldn't get special treatment if I tried. (it was the Rose anyways, not Sugar's...never Sugar's...nasty)

tony:38 should be ok for the street. you might want to play with the pressure if you think the ride is too harsh. it's good to keep the pressure up on the fronts so you decrease the understeer and also help protect the rim from hard impacts. damn you guys, yellow rose. i miss that place. i've spent my share of $$ there. btw, any of you austin guys going to the auto-x this weekend? i'm going back on sat. nite and leaving sunday nite to pick up some things and i found some time to squeeze an auto-x in there.

Let me re-hijack my own thread...
Tony, congrats on the wheels. I had a reply all typed up to your e-mail from last week and my PC crashed :jedicryin

Did you have to roll the rear fenders? Did you wax the wheels before you put them on (will help clean them later)?

Can't wait to see them. I tried to call your cell phone @ 6:00pm last Fri but got no answer a couple of times; missed the HH also. My in-laws are coming in Wed. night so I'm pretty much SOL for the after hours stuff unless it's tonight... I'll send you an e-mail in a bit about the foliatec.

BJ - I'm comin' to IKEA with the in-laws on Friday. I'm sure I'll see you there... :biglaughb

Ian

definitely the Maxima...we are bringing 2 vehicles, one for people and one for all of the crap we're gonna buy (mostly furniture for the baby's room)...
