View Full Version : Anyone interested in Dyno Run(VA, MD, DC)?
bimmerpwr 06-17-2002, 01:09 PM I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing a dyno run together? I and Phillip (aka ///M Roadster) maybe be doing one soon at Autothority facility.
Each run is 75 dollars but we may get a group discount if we have enough people. Besides, I don't think Bimmerforums people ever had a group dyno run yet (for VA, MD, DC at least). It could be a nice change.
///MINI 06-17-2002, 02:19 PM ME! I'd be interested in seeing what numbers I pull on their dyno machine versus the one at Curry's.
bimmerpwr 06-17-2002, 05:37 PM I just talked to Autothority and they said they are having a sale on Dyno runs right now. That's why it's $75 instead of normal $125. However, if we can get 4 or more people, they will give us 10-15% off the price. That is, $75 - $10 or so, and it makes it about $65.
Unfortunately they do not open on weekends.
Boomerbimmer 06-25-2002, 06:56 PM Find more people...It's worht $65 to me.
bimmerpwr 06-25-2002, 07:17 PM I had it scheduled for this Monday but it got postponded til tomorrow. I have an appointment at 4:30 pm to do it. $75 for 3 runs. Due to lack of interest here, I have decided to do it on my own.
However, I think DTM power people are arranging one soon, so you may want to join up with them.
Boomerbimmer 06-26-2002, 11:57 PM I emailed Swift Racing in Beltsville and here is their response:
$40 for three runs.
$80 per hour.
and there is a $15 hookup fee.
This includes the use of the wideband O2 sensor. No open muffler
(excessively loud) cars allowed.
bimmerpwr 06-27-2002, 12:52 AM $40 for 3 pulls? Sounds great.
I just had bad experience with my first dyno.
Do you know what kind of dyno machine they use?
Where is Beltsville anyway. Sounds like a village from a horror movie.
Anyway, if they have good dyno machine I may be interested in joining you.
Boomerbimmer 06-28-2002, 04:59 PM Beltsville is near College Park just outside the Beltway. I haven't been there so don;t know anymore than what their web page says and what they sent me in the email.
NoSoup4U 07-03-2002, 03:41 PM They are basically involved with Lexus more than other vehicles. Specifically, the IS300, GS300/400 series. They currently are working on my SC400 to see if an S/C can be built for it. They are reliable; not some horror movie type of place!
too bad, i would be up for it...last time iwas there for dyno runs it was one pull for $50
jeff
I'd love to get a dyno run. The places I have spoken w/are only open during the week.
Bav///Man 07-07-2002, 12:30 AM I would love to be in on this. But is it possible to know the date a little in advance so I can get off work?
NoSoup4U 07-11-2002, 05:42 PM I'll drop him a email message and see if we can set something up, I was thinking the last week in July or first couple of weeks in August...
although, not sure if their dyno pull is open those days.
I thought autothority was open on the weekends as well? haven't been there for ages....they wanted $860 for the HKS superdragger exhaust, the place in gaithersburg wanted $680 for the same one, WTF!!!!!...
autothority may do good work, but, there prices on parts are hella expensive!
bimmerpwr 07-11-2002, 06:01 PM Sounds good. Can you find out if their dyno facility is air conditioned as well? Autothority dyno facility is not and we will get numbers that are lower than we can possibly imagine...been there done that already.
NoSoup4U 07-11-2002, 06:17 PM not sure if any of you know him, he's the marketing director for SRT. So, if he comes through with a deal, I'd appreciate everyone giving him a shout-out when we see him.
I asked about the air conditioning, and what type of dyno it is, how many runs we can do, and how many vehicles he will allow. I suggested possibly two dates if alot of vehicles want to do this.
Hopefully he will come with a good price. I'll let you know as soon as I hear from him. I suggested the weekends of July 27th, August 3, and August 10th as potential dates. So, as soon as I hear from him, hopefully tomorrow, I'll let you guys know.
bimmerpwr 07-11-2002, 07:31 PM Great! Thanks for working towards this meet/dyno. Keep us posted.
Bav///Man 07-12-2002, 12:53 AM Good job, jderry! Keep us posted!
