I've just recently bought a 2002tii and had some time to inspect it carefully.

Lucky Points:
-Original Zender rear spoiler
-Original Zender front air dam
-Momo Steering Wheel
-Upgraded Fuel Hoses
-Rear Battery Relocation
-Reupholstered perforated leather interior
-Like new headliner
-Rear Bilsteins
-F/R Upgraded sway bars
-New Motor Mounts
-New Front bushings
-205 series Yokohama tires on the original steel wheels
-Front Strut bar
-Original Replacement K&N filter elements
-Pertronix Distributor Conversion
-Performance 4-1 header (unknown brand)
-Like new original style muffler
-Upgraded Sylvania headlamps and wiring

Unlucky:
-Possible cracked cylinder head or bad head gasket. After sitting for the past 8 years in storage, it smoked alot of white smoke for a few starts but got better and practically doesn't smoke anymore. I did however find milky substance on oil cap indicating coolant mixture in the oil. I will drain the oil and inspect it too when I change the oil today.
-A little more rust than anticipated: Passenger floor board, edges of front and rear hood and trunks. Some rust forming around rear shock towers. One front fender has rust through.
-Rear bumper shock busted
-Previous owner cut 6x9 speaker holes under the rear seats
-Cracked windshield
-No radio and center dash face piece

Other than that, this will be a bigger project than I had thought and my direction has changed from doing an original restoration to doing a more vintage racer type car.

Is there any other helpful sites other than this one and bmw2002faq?

Thanks.

Condensation may be the reason for the milky underside of your oilcap. You have the right idea to change the oil. I'd also change other vital fluids such as coolant, brake fluid, diff and trans oils as well.

Most likely the headgasket is seeping.. recommend replacing it.. i bought my 73tii from my neighbors for $800 and it was sitting for 7 yrs. the mechnical k-fish pump was junk.. so i swapped it with my 74tii one, and she fired right up :) Any other questions PM me...

Update: It seems to point to condensation for the milky underside on my oil cap. I found out that my radiator isn't leaking but merely was overfilled and leaking out the drain tube. After inpsecting the radiator carefully, I think it's a new unit since I couldn't find any bent fins anywhere. :D

There is absolutely no smoking now too after I changed the oil and let it run a few times. I'll be changing the diff and tranny fluid this weekend before taking her for a ride.

The only thing is that it idles rough in the lower rpm's and doesn't hold idle and wants to die out. I plan on taking the gas tank apart and emptying out the old gas and refilling it with new gas in hopes of curing the idle problem. Also want to check to make sure there isn't rust sediments at the bottom of the tank.

-Get the bocsh k-jet checked out. That may be the cause of the rough idle. Maybe.
-Congrats on the new ride dude! :D

Thanks. I already have an appointment next week with one of the '02 gurus out there to have my K-fish injection checked out and adjusted if necessary along with my ignition.

sounds like a sweet ride.

You might want to check the fuel screens and fuel filter along with the new gas. There is a mesh filter on the bit that goes into the tank -- and a few others scattered around, but if its running rough at low RPM its probably not a fuel supply problem (you'd think)

Does it idle OK after its warmed up? Or is it accross the board? You might just need to screw with the idle speed adjuster and the mixture adjuster in the tuna can.

welcome to tii ing -- you're gonna have a blast with that car.

Check your vacuum lines. Re-adjust the valves COLD! Good luck!

These are some crappy pics from my camera phone. Includes special treat - unwashed 8 year old dust.

The interior looks good, and I love the steering wheel.

Steering wheel will probably be redyed or replaced. It looks to be a Momo Corse steering wheel.
