So after doing searches here, not too much info for E34's but I noticed many E36 owners use a Carb Cleaner and spray it into the ICV by removing part of the plastic tube going to it with the engine on and revved. Is this the same way I should do it for the E34 or should I just go ahead and remove everything and clean it that way?

If anyone else has done it, what is the best way?

i completely removed the ICV off my 528 for cleaning. i used some carb cleaner and even made a litle write-up. check it out:
