My bumper trims are fading and have been trading paint with a few objects. Has anyone tried painting them. If so, what did you use and how did you do it?
Thanks

Thanks Andryuha 05-07-2005, 02:36 PM I'd like to know this too, since mine are fading as well lovemye34 05-07-2005, 03:38 PM i don't know much about it, but you could try that Forever Black stuff on bavatuo.com. "Keep your BMW looking young! Nothing shows a car's age like those neglected black surfaces. Forever Black re-colors and protects all of your BMW's black plastic, vinyl and rubber--without the use of silicone! Kit contains 4 oz bottle of cleaner and 4 oz bottle of conditioner." $12.95. Should be cheaper and easier than painting. Brodee 05-07-2005, 04:31 PM If you are painting them black then get the SEM Trim paint. It matches perfect and will adhere to the rubber. Does anyone know if this stuff is also available in auto parts stores? Or maybe I should get my lazy ass off the chair and run to pep boys one block down the road. :D lovemye34 05-07-2005, 06:20 PM no problem, if you try it lemme know how it works, mine are startin to fade as well. liquidtiger720 05-07-2005, 07:57 PM you can also try poorboys trim restorer. I will be getting some, so if you want to try some, let me know :) . This is the picture that lured me to the product. I can't remember where I got the picture from, but it is poorboys trim restorer. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v457/liquidtiger720/mirror_pbtr.jpg From the poorboys website: Trim Restorer is a long lasting unique dressing, with a patented UV absorber for ultimate protection of exterior and interior surfaces. Restorer is unmatched on grained trim, bumpers, vinyl, leather, dashboards, tires and engine compartment platics. A must for the enthusiast or show car. * NOT GREASY or STICKY * DRIES TO THE TOUCH * LONG LASTING * DOESN’T STREAK One downfall would be the bumper trim. The plastic is smooth, so it may not absorb the product. vtbimmer 05-08-2005, 12:25 AM Sand it, prime it, and paint it. Pretty simple. http://www.img.photobucket.com/albums/v709/vtbmw525/corner.jpg KB535i 05-08-2005, 12:36 AM Why not try the euro-spec bumper trim? all black...brand new. Here are the part numbers 51-11-1-944-177 $22.50 51-11-1-944-178 $22.50 51-12-1-944-185 $19.20 51-12-1-944-186 $19.20 Total $83.40+ tax This was stealership price...and before I knew you can haggle with them. You should be able to get all pieces for $60. My .02 |
