WTF???
Chuck, I've heard very good things about dynaudio and I'm sure they'll sound awesome. Problem will be mounting the mid in the door and 7" woofer in the kick......do a search and you will find some write ups. It can be done, but it will take a some work. You may want to consider going with a more traditional 2-way comp set and disconnecting the mid...much easier and not that much difference in sq.
Rear is a ~4" mid if you have non-hk (hk has a 6x9). I've heard you can get 5.25's to fit. A lot of folks just remove the rears alltogether and leave the holes to vent subs from the trunk. You'll find the e36 trunk is extremely well insulated from the cabin if you install a sub (you couldn't hear my 10" basslink at all with the speakers in and the seats up).
HTH. Guess you sold the E30 huh.

I think he wants something a bit more high end if this is his price range.
I would look into DLS Iridiums.
dasminkar 05-07-2005, 08:14 PM I didn't know they were in the $700+ range! They should sound pretty awesome for that kind of cha-ching!
eric77 05-08-2005, 03:09 AM Those are my FAVORITE comps ever! They wont slip right into the bimmer by any means, but if you can afford to drop $700+ on the BEST speakers I'm sure you can afford some proper kick pods and a proper install. You will not be dissappointed by those at all. They are flat out amazing imo.

edit: dont ruin an amazing setup like that with rear speakers :stickoutt
M triple 05-08-2005, 04:27 AM There is a guy here that had that exact setup in the front of his M3, I forget his name, it's TLP/96M or something like that...
I'm a bit old school when it comes to car audio, but back in the day when I was competing on the IASCA circuit, I was one of the first to run the Dyne 3 ways. In fact I had to wait for the crossovers because they werent designed yet.
They are flat out the best 3 way speaker set I have ever heard. I still have mine and I'm going to throw them in my E34.... $750 is cheap, I bought them on manufacturer accomodation back in 96 for almost $2000! Retail was around $3000.
If you decide to by them, please take great care in installing them, i.e. sound deadening and woody's etc...

I am so jealous of you  One day I hope to a set of those of myself. One thing though: competing with passive crossovers? Were they just that amazing or do you always run passives? I always though most competitors went active so they had complete control over their system.

When I switched to passives, I had just come off of 2 years of running fully active with the Pioneer ODR sytems. At the time I thought that nothing could touch the flexibility of a fully active system. I was so wrong, nothing can touch a well designed passive. To me, active sounds artificial and cold, whereas a good passive is more realistic and warm sounding. Dyne Audio spent some time designing the Comp three way crossovers. Like I mentioned above, the speakers were out well before the crossovers were available. I waited so long, that I actually bugged one of the Dyne Engineers to give me the list of parts and board diagrams for the 3 way crossover but at that point they were starting production and I was too lazy to build my own and waited for the final product... :D
JPWheelr 05-08-2005, 04:13 PM The cutting of the kick panels isnt too bad and they fit into the doors quite well, with cutting
I can post pics of my (in progress) install of a System 360 if you would like.
360 is similar to a 340, the woofer is different (bigger)
Anyway, Indo Audio is a great seller. Got my Phoenix Gold Titanium Comps from him, as well as my 9835 Alpine.
JPWheelr 05-08-2005, 04:15 PM tired of hitting edit.
if you search, there is three posts (which I've archived and can mail to you) with the how to write ups floating around on here for a system 340 / 360
