View Full Version : Where do you guys get your tires from?
p nut 05-06-2005, 01:13 PM So far, it seems Discount Tire has the best selection and pricing. Great service, also. Costco is a bit more expensive, but they have the pro-rating program which might save you a few $$ in the long run.
I haven't dealt with too many other companies. Any inputs on best places? Even if you get them online, where do you get them mounted and balanced?
chmdrm 05-06-2005, 01:48 PM Tire Rack.
I seem to keep ordering wheels that come with tires already mounted and balanced.
Antwerp 05-06-2005, 09:15 PM Same. Tire Rack.
If I need them mounted -> Wheel Werks.
euro4life 05-07-2005, 12:36 AM I mount my own. Tires from TireRack.
Depends on what tire you want though too. TireRack doesn't carry Falken so I had to get the Azenis at Discount Tire.
FWIW, Tirerack is running a special on the Kumho 245/40/18 for $138. Ray Chiang from Wheelwerks (801-268-4132) can help you with mounting, balancing, etc.
Ray is a fellow SCCA racer and he will be the event chair on Sunday. I hope you guys make it out to the E-Center. :)
BIMMERBOYZ 05-07-2005, 11:22 PM Discount is the best. I used to get bored at work work as a teller at U of U credit union and would call just to get prices. Discount tire always the lowest les schwab sucked always highest others in the middle. In my opinion stay away from les schwab trust me when I say this.
euro4life 05-08-2005, 02:01 AM Doesn't Les (butt) Swabb only carry Toyo anyway?
BIMMERBOYZ 05-08-2005, 04:49 PM They don't only carry toyo but mostly. I worked there. They will try to sale just toyo though. :mad

chasmanbmwfan 05-08-2005, 05:14 PM I bet I've spent $2000 on tires from wheelwerks in the past six months. Next time, I'll price them at Discount first, and get Wheelwerks to put them on.
jmabey 05-08-2005, 06:13 PM wheelwerks likes toyo too, well the off road ones. i have toyo proxes 4 on my car and i love them. les schwab sucks a nut! dont go there
euro4life 05-08-2005, 11:49 PM I had Toyo Proxes FZ4's once too. I thought they were great until I tried something else.

:help
Did you pull that staple out?
Antwerp 05-10-2005, 04:24 PM Uh Oh. No wheelies for teh Ben.
flyboyM535i 05-10-2005, 04:51 PM Wheel Werks off 33rd and State. The owner is a BMW enthusiast, and they know how to PROPERLY balance a wheel. 3 way balance is the best way to go.
They can get you any rubber you like.
Edit: On the subject of balancing...I had my wife's car done at Goodyear. There was a slight vibration. I suspected a poor balancing job. I took it back to Goodyear, they rebalanced all four wheels. Still had a vibration. They tried to tell me it was suspension. I took the car to Wheel Werks and they balanced the wheels - vibration = gone.
