So I adjusted my mechanical linkage to remove some of the slop, but now the car runs a little, well, different. Acceleration is a tad sluggish, but the idle is pretty rough. It's running rich as heck. Any clue on how to adjust the mixture and/or where it should be set? I know how to access the adjustment screws etc., but don't really now much more. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you change any of the measurement of the linkage geometry in locations A or B by chance?

If not, where on this diagram did you change something?

I did...I'll have to go back and check the dimensions (found this out later) to make sure they are to specs. If I remember correctly, (A) should be 85mm and (B) should be 289mm...is this correct? Thanks.

yeah, i've have the same problem for years.. when i thought i got it setup right i started blowing headgasket, cylinder jumping.. the pump was too lean.. so i decide to get rid of the mech. injection pump and went megasquirt electronic fuel injection... and it's 1 million times better...

Erik,
85mm and 289mm is correct.
I strongly suggest if you are near LA you set up an appointment with Jack Fahuna to straighten out your whole setup. I know many TII owners who swear their car never ran better after he set everything up correctly according to BMW.

I have screwed with my KF+linkage and I'm sure it was dumb luck on my part as the thing seems to work really well. Once I got my warm up transmitter issue fixed the whole system began working great. If you bring the system into factory spec and it still sucks, fiddle a bit and do adjustments by feel. After 30 years those tollerances are not the same, and many engines are no longer stock. Mine has all emissions taken off and headers so the characteristics are no longer so strongly associated with the numbers in the books. When I put that together again I tried to get close with the book specs then messed with it till it started working well, then I quit.
