It kind of pisses me off that I have to wait in line for 3 hours to get one run in.

I'll still go if we get a couple more to go. I want to go up against an M5 to see what my car will do.

If you can get thier earlier come run the brackets with me. Less wait, more runs.

There is a break-in. 1200 miles I believe.
If you want to run Friday, don't put it in.

What type of diff does Dinan use that needs a break in? Does the M3 not already have an electronicly controlled LSD ... so is the Dinan rear not the same with different gears?

I could be mistaken, but I believe they just swap it out with the 3.91.
I don't think they change it out to one like the M5.
Let me go look on Dinan's website.

Not much info there...

I guess more info is needed from BMW and Their Service Tech.

Drag racing, the best dif break in possible.

I agree, I don't think there is a need for any break inon a diff, and even if there was I firmly belive that you break things in the way you want them to be driven.

My talon motor saw 7000 rpm on less after less then 100 miles. It was very happy to do it and still is. With a motor you have to get the rings to seat, but after that ....

So, how long does it take to seat the rings? 50 Miles?

In Addition, you should bed the brakes too. Hehe

Ten years ago, most of the engine builders I worked with, fired the motor on the dyno with no oil, did one solid pull, then put dinosaur oil in. The oil has gotten so good it is tough to break down. That was the theory anyway.

I wish it was done that way now days... This 1200 mile BS sucks!!!
I still question the rational though...The most likley worst case scenerio would be bad oil consumption in an engine that was pushed too hard in the begining.

I was always a firm believer in the fact that you broke it in like you were going to drive it. The only only motor I've seen that wanted a soft break in was the RX7s and thier spinning triangles.

Bmw told me no break in. I just called Dinan directly and they said no break in, just oil changed at 1200 miles

Very nice. I have been misinformed... Now I know. :D

You know thats 800 miles of city driving not just 800 miles right?

Don't be suprised if you kill another one....

Maybe you should do another burnout.

HEHE Sorry I tend to be a dick, As for dif break in, alot of manufacturers recomend a break in for a new set of gears in the rear. Then again depending on who you talk to there are 1000 dif types of break in's for engines.

Geoff its one thing to let your engine seat the rings by reving it high and leting it rev down on its own, its another to toss your setup together and run to the track and beat the shit out of it.

FRIDAY DRAG RACES
Credentials 2:30 p.m.
Spectator Gates 4:00 p.m.
Tech Closes 6:00 p.m.
Racing Events 6:00 p.m.
MIDNIGHT DRAGS
Participant Cards Handed Out 6:00 p.m.
Purchase Credentials 7:00 p.m.
Tech Inspection 8:00 p.m.
Gates Open 10:30 p.m.
Passes Begin 11:00 p.m.

I will be heading down around 2:30 for the brackets. Anyone that wants to come to let me know and we can hook up and head down together.

Anyone that is doing the Midnights, I've heard they have dropped the number of cars to 250 so that people should get at least 2 runs in. Also means that the line for run cards might fill up early.
