In a few days, Im going to get some of that highly praised AMSOIL 0W-30 oil. Ha. I thought, might as well change the oil filter as well because I just recently got the car through a private owner. Just to be safe. So , what is the best filter to get? Should i just go pick one up at the dealership, or get one offline, help me out here. WHere to go , and how much?

On a second note, i saw an article on how u can turn the ignition on, but not start the engine, and hit the gas 4 times....and the fault codes will blink. If this is the case, where can i find a chart for the 96 M3. Hey , thanks alot :buttrock

I'd just grab a couple from the dealer, they're pretty cheap, especially with a BMWCCA membership -- which is a good card to have in your pocket whenever you're buying parts. :)

The E36 M3 FAQ *might* have that chart, and is a good read in general: http://eurospeed.org/

Welcome aboard!

I got a 5 pack of MAHLE Oil Filters for $17.50 off ebay. That would be $3.50/each!! I picked it up to save shipping costs.
