Just picked up a pair of vader seats for my mk4 GTI today. There are two dual-prong plugs under each seat. I'm assuming these are for the seat heaters. Does anyone have a schematic of the seat heaters including the controlling potentiometers?

I'm assuming they'll get hot if I just pump 12v into each plug..

I need some clarification before I attempt it. I don't want to set these puppies on fire.

thanks!!

It depends greatly on what year car the seats came out of. The '98 and later seats have pyrotechnic pretensioners. If you run 12v across them it's going to be loud.

No matter what year the seat is, one of the plugs should have three pins. This is attached to the buckle and lets the car know if you are buckled in or not, therefore controlling the seatbelt light.

The passenger seat may also have an occupancy detector plug.

there are no seatbelt receptacles...

The two plugs on the bottom of each seat are identical. Each has two pins. One pin has a red wire coming off it, the other has a red wire with a yellow stripe.

What exactly is a pyrotechnic pretensioner?
