View Full Version : Chime in, guys!
SpecM 05-02-2005, 06:08 PM This is another "keeping the 02 thread alive" thread, since the other one died. Anyway, chime in with 02 stories and comments!
First queston: how do you pronounce "2002" in a conversation?
-I say "two thousand two" around non-02 people and "two" around those who know
Ohtwo 05-02-2005, 06:13 PM I say OhTwo.
or old BMW around those who are uneducated.
If I say I have a BMW 2002 (im 17) people are like "what?" and then give me the :shifty look.
Theres so many stories. Random people come up and ask about it, and I'd say 95%+ people like or love it.
74tii 05-02-2005, 09:37 PM Even as crappy as my tii looks 2 chicks were fawning over it the other day at the supermarket. The funny thing was they were insisting it was a volvo -- 'I just love those old Volvos!!!'
I had just washed and vaccumed it out, so it was looking as good as it can with all the dents and multi-colored rust treatment.
I got a number off one, but they must be blind. That actually helps me out a lot, now that I think about it. I'll have to give that one a call.
tommozza 05-03-2005, 02:43 AM i saw 'two double oh two'....and 'Tee double I'
sounds good when u say it in a sentence lol... :)

I was amazed at the female reaction just from my e30, even had sorority girls flash me on the highway the first week I owned it. Start us a blind girl tii saga thread.

-People think you're talking about a 2002 BMW, not a BMW 2002, right?
-I have the same problem. They say "oh, that's not that old..."

Yeah. Then they inform me with their infinate knowledge, that either BMW didnt make cars back then, or, it cant be a 1976 and a 2002(year) at the same time.
74tii 05-03-2005, 03:58 PM Before the year 2002 if you put bmw 2002 into search engines you always found what you were looking for. Now its all screwed up :)

Yeah, is it just me or when you try to look for "BMW 2002" parts on ebay its almost impossible to find something for 02s...all that damn E46 Ricer crap comes up...

-Speaking of ebay... how about when people post 2002 e46/e39 and such in the 2002 section? Didn't it strike these people a little strange that there are NO OTHER YEAR MODEL SECTIONS? [/rant off]
SpecM 05-04-2005, 12:25 PM - How about this- what is the "e" code for a 2002? I've seen them refered to as an e3, e6, e9, a 'type 121' and 'type 144' or something :confused . I really don't know but would like to...
74tii 05-04-2005, 12:47 PM according to http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/enumber.html
114 / E6
E10 / E12 67 - 77 1502, 1600, 1602, 1800, 1802, 2000, 2002ti/tii
E10 was the touring three door model
E20 was the 2002 tii & turbo
the m10 bits refers only to the engine right?
742002 05-04-2005, 04:26 PM m10 is the engine block code. this block was used for many years. the s14 in the e30 m3 even uses a variation on the m10 block.
Ohtwo 05-04-2005, 10:24 PM So unless you have a Tii, its an E10?

///M3CosmosJoe 05-06-2005, 06:39 PM I call mine a "tii" and bimmer people know what I am talking about. But many call it the little orange bimmer, those people all seem to have new or newer bimmers. They can't get over the Inka factory color.
Too bad you can't get a bimmer in Inka now. :(
trboblu74tii 05-08-2005, 03:34 PM I call mine "still under construction" it's been like 6 yrs.. and she's still not done.. it's hard when to buy so many different cars and fix them up and leave your true baby on the back burner... it's hard when you own a 88m3 like me and mod it, then try to find time too work on my 02... then go to school, and bought another car.. fixed it up "money wasted" then sold that cat and bought another bmw... went from an acura integra to a 89 325is.. modded that thing up too "again more wasted money".. sold that and i bought a 97 4 runner limited from a friend "lifted jaos'd out full nav system, etc.. cheap.. it was a good deal.. i needed a ride so i could take my dh mountain bike to northstar, and go biking... And now finally i'm working on her.. currently doing the 5 spd. megasquirt's her and turbo'd early march..
and hopefully i'll get her done foe this weekends meet.. at least the 5 spd..
i've got the rear trailing arm bushings, diff bushings in urethane, and also need to replace the rear wheel bearings, and convert to rear disc brakes..
and she needs body work and paint, so some of my time will go to her, and her younger sister my 73tii is next... These cars are a blast to drive... I'd rather drive my 02's over my M3... but everybody else i talk to say your crazy... and i say whatever, if ti wasn't for the 02 bmw wouldn't be here in the states, or even at all... just mt 02 :)
