Hi all, my temperature and gas level gauges jump up and down. Does anybody have fix for this, or where the problem is coming from?

Grounds are the problem. Check/clean all the grounds you can find. My fix came by running an additional new ground from the engine to the body -- suddenly all my gauges starting working.

There are a few different grounds -- I know the ones for tii but I think your car has some different locations. Try the engine one for sure & any others you can find.

For the Tii's theres a ground up there near the firewall on the drivers side. I dont have a Tii so im not sure as to the exact location. Theres a ground near the battery for the normal 02s and another in the trunk near the fuel pump. Not sure about the Tii's so check those locations. Mine seem to bounce about 1/4-1/2 a needles width sometimes, and sometimes when I turn on the lights, the guages will jump up 1/2 a needles width.

Mine was driving me nuts because at 5k RPM the sterio would cut out and the guages would jump -- sometimes the lights would flicker. I finally figured out the engine ground was dodgy -- at 5k the engine vibration would cause the connection to quit. This after I traced and cleaned every damn connection I could find. My car was used in vintage races so its got that ground cut off switch wired in -- where you turn a key under the bonnet to kill the power in the car -- handy for working on the car, but practically none of the regular wiring schematics were accurate anymore.

Anyway, a new engine ground cured my problem after a week or two of tracing all the grounds in the car. DOH! should have thought of that one first
