View Full Version : God help me, I like the E90!
Gofast 04-29-2005, 09:51 AM First, let me say I've been none too crazy about the e90 up till this point.
I don't like pictures of it, even in the supposed "sport" and M3 trims.
But I stopped by the dealership yesterday afternoon for some parts, and they had 4 or 5 e90s on the lot.
And in person, holy cow I really like them.
The tail still looks a bit pinched and small compared to the e36 and e46, but man, the rest of the design is nice, and they look great in black and dark grey, just like the e36 and e46 did.
I never fully got the whole "flame surfacing" deal until I saw this car.
The whole design is so dynamic, it moves and changes as you walk around it. It just looks like it wants to drive.
I may have to visit again today and see if I can talk them into a test drive. :devillook
Flame away.
....*I also saw the M3 CP parked far at one end of the lot, with seagull crap all over it. :cry I wanted to go rescue it so badly!
CrotchMonster 04-29-2005, 09:52 AM i concur.
DuctApe66 04-29-2005, 09:55 AM Thanks, I haven't seen one in the flesh and I hate the way it looks in photos so I think I will drive by my $tealership.
MP525i 04-29-2005, 10:06 AM yeah, they are a lot better looking in person. i personally like them, along with the redesigned 7 and the e60. they aren't too bad of cars. not as hot as the lineup in 2001 (where every car produced was sooo incredibly hot), but it's good none-the-less.

The best I can say is that it doesn't offend my sensibilities the way the 5er and 7er do. But it will never generate the total lust that the E36 did or even the "that's a nice looking car" that the E46 did.

gsibble 04-29-2005, 10:43 AM I saw some E90s yesterday. They were parked next to 4 2005 E46 M3s......
The E90s looked like crap next to the M3s. The E46 was just too gorgeous. Hard to beat.
snafu 04-29-2005, 10:44 AM I am an e90 fan, I think the car looks better inside and out.

But you have to remember that you're comparing a intro sedan to an M3.
That's like comparing a stock 1999 e46 sedan to a 1999 e36 M3.

The E46 M3 is almost impossible to beat. Don't even try to compare it with other BMWs. We have to wait until we get to see the E9x M.

You guys: The ones who are bitching and moaning about all the bangle designs.

Luftwaffe1O1 04-29-2005, 01:27 PM The e90 is a great looking car, most of the new designs are, they have to be seen to be appreciated. The lines of the car draw your attention. They look a bit odd, but that is the whole point of it, the car is supposed to be a work of art, it demands your attention.
And when you have a 323i sedan from 1999 with ambers and all, next to an estoril 99 M3 coupe guess which one looks better?

auto_pilot 04-29-2005, 02:15 PM I'm really not a fan of Bangle...But the E90 is his best so far.

  HOT!!!!!!!!
mbanks21 04-29-2005, 02:19 PM Id like the front better if it didnt have the orange slice turn markers or the "Swedish Chef" mustache. And you shouldnt have to spend $5k+ to but a bodykit on to make your car look acceptable
surfacewound 04-29-2005, 03:11 PM I have to admit that the only Bangle designs that I've wholly disliked are the new 7 and 6. The E62/3 is just damn ugly from any angle, especially the rear. The trunk lid is simply disgusting.
But I actually like the way the new 5 looks from the rear. The side is bleh, I hate how the tail lights look from the side profile, but that's really my biggest gripe with the car's looks.
While I didn't immediately love the appearance of the E90 as I did the E36 and E46, I didn't dislike it. I'm gonna try to see it in person when I take my car in Monday.
Tonus 04-29-2005, 03:14 PM Look at how much the 3 series changed between the E30 and the E36!!! The E90 fits right in with BMW's track record. Have you seen that car in red.................................smokkkiiinnnn'

i concur.
but i agree, dont judge the car if you havent seen it in person.. i only saw one on the highway for about 10 seconds cause it was going about 110..and immediatly i was like, holy shit that thing doesnt look TOO bad. I wish i had been in my 325 instead of my moms volvo, i would have tried to catch up to it.
mbanks21 04-29-2005, 05:46 PM My review: http://bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=351313
E90Toad 04-29-2005, 07:39 PM Dropped by a local dealer today and saw a few, didn't have time to wait for a ride. At least an hour wait, every one was out or going out and there were a couple people waiting. Probably go back on Monday.
As for looks, I am liking it a lot. Was suprised how much more I liked it in silver vs. black. In pics I thought the opposite. Seemed to bring out the details, expecially at the front end where it made it look more aggressive. I've now seen red, black, grey and silver and silver is the best IMO. Really want to see a blue. Also thought the sport wheels were much better looking in person than in pics. The pictures really made them look flat and uninteresting but they do have a good style. Not the best but much better than I thought and do justice to the car.
peakpro 04-29-2005, 10:15 PM I have seen a red one in person.
I found it bloated and boring looking.
Maybe a darker color would be better.
serio 04-30-2005, 02:26 AM Seeing it in person =
Seeing it in pics = :confused
06E90 04-30-2005, 02:31 AM I just went to the dealer today and put down a deposit on the 325i. After seeing it in person and driving it I was sold. The dark colors are definitely the more appealing on the new body but the silver looked nice too. Never had a BMW before so I don’t know how it compares to most but the E90 drives a little better than the E46. It wasn’t OMG better but it was better.
252kw 04-30-2005, 03:04 AM I like everything except the rear lights. Thats the only fault I have against the car... :(

this car looks like is was sculpted out of stone. I prefer the naturally inspired design of the e46 but the e90 is nice and more futuristic.
