Sorry for the delay in posting these pics...my roomate took the digicam to Laughlin last weekend and I didn't get it back 'til yesterday. Anyhow, these are pics, as delivered. Keep in mind, the car is unwashed, and a little rough from sitting in a guys driveway for a couple of months; it'll never be this rough again!

Nice! Looks in better shape than mine. Some genius put speakers in my door pannels, while yours look in fine shape. You've also got the drivers side mirror -- mine doesn't have that. Dash looks pretty good -- and you've got the cool wooden shifter. The plastic bit on mine cracked. Definite cool project!!!

How's it drive??

Drives great so far! It had a slight miss at around 5k rpm when I first got it, but an oil change, plugs, and timing adjustment seemed to cure that. Right now, the intereior is out completely, save for the dash and two Recaro's, no spare or tools in the trunk, and the bumpers are off to get it ready for paint...needless to say, it flat hauls right now! I'd venture to say it's close to 2100 lbs without all of the aforementioned stuff! I'm a little concerned about the shift linkage though...it has a 5 speed which shifts fine, but the lever has quite a bit of play in it. Does anyone sell a busching kit for this? I'm thinking that's all it is.

http://www.bavauto.com/ probably has some. Man don't you love that 4k+ RPM zoooooom the ol tii gives? Do you have the LSD to match the five speed? I'm still using 4 speed and normal dif. I'm trying to find an LSD, but probably keep the 4 speed -- I don't do much freeway driving.

Good luck on your project. What are your plans?

Looks like a PO removed all the beltline trim and filled the holes. Are they welded shut or bondo'd?

I like the interior door panel pocket. Are they on both doors? Are they installed well?

Thanks for the good comments! The car does have an LSD (by the way, are these diffs supposed to be so noisy?) and it works great. As far as the belt line trim; it's been bondo'd, but they did a decent job. The map pockets probably won't stay on because they rub my seats. I plan on restoring the car, but with my own flair added along the way. Not that I'm against keeping cars original, but I always see room for improvment. Besides, it's never gonna be a concours de'legance competitor anyway. I'll definitely keep you guys posted with pics along the way. By the way, what are everyones thoughts on the Recaro's? They obviously need to be recovered, but they're in pretty good shape. I like them, but was considering some more modern seats that would accomodate a five point harness. Any suggestions?

The E21 320is Recaros are very good for the 2002. But, it really depends on comfort. There aren't any other factory BMW seats that bolt-in, other than rare factory-optional 2002 sport seats. Aftermarket has nice seats also from Recaro, Scheel, etc., but more $$$.

Ah yes, Scheel, a very very nice seat, even better than Recaros IMHO.

Classic Scheel seats are the best in my humble opinion.

Pricey, but the most comfortable there are.
