Texas is trying to sell lotto tickets online now... but the interesting part is what else is included:

"It was inserted in a larger bill that also allows drivers to display only one license plate if it's on the rear."

AUSTIN – Lottery tickets might soon be as handy as your home computer.

A bill approved Monday by the House Appropriations Committee would make Texas the first state to let lottery players buy tickets via the Internet and pay with a debit card.

Players also could also establish a Texas Lottery Commission account that would draw down as they purchase tickets.

House members barely discussed the measure at Monday's meeting. It was inserted in a larger bill that also allows drivers to display only one license plate if it's on the rear.

Rep. Carlos Uresti, D-San Antonio, a supporter of the bill, described its chances in the full House as 50-50, depending, he said, on whether money was still needed toward the end of the session to fund crucial services.

Rep. Jim Pitts, the Appropriations chairman and bill author, said Internet sales of lottery tickets would earn an additional $100 million a year. The lottery raised $1 billion last year for schools.

Rep. Myra Crownover, R-Denton, said Internet sales are a bad idea because kids could buy lottery tickets. Ms. Crownover also saideasier access could fuel gambling addiction.

The Lottery Commission was taken by surprise. Officials said they weren't told of the bill ahead of time and don't yet know what kind of games they would offer via the Internet.

Not until it passes the full House.

I have never had a front plate inmy life. I finally got a ticket in my Ferrari from a jealous punk cop. He said just put one on there and take it by the court. I looked at him like you must be crazy and said," for some reason I don't see myself drilling holes in the front of this car.

What kind of dumbass cop would give a ferrari owner a liscence plate ticket. Even the judge would prolly be like wtf. Post a pic of the 355 it is my all time favorite car. I am looking at renting one for my wedding but they are $600 a day.

If it gets passed by 2/3 in the House and Senate in the same form (e.g. nothing else tacked on or not modified), then the governor signs it, it goes into effect immediately. If it gets passed any other way, it goes into effect 90 days after the end of the session.

More details on the ferrari please. I've been working on my wife for about a year and she finally said I can get one. Now I just need to decide if it is really what I want, or if my car A.D.D. is just telling me i need one. I can see it now, 1982 s-10 and a 355. I think I want one just to kick the hell out of my wifes vette.

You can go to the Texas Legislature web site and look at the bill's progress. It's of no use, though, since the license plate provision (and the lottery ticket sales) have been stripped from the bill.
