UPDATE: For everyone who has already sent payment for the alarm they will be shipped out to you early tomorrow. Expect to recieve them before the end of the week. For those who havent paid yet or for those who want to join the groupbuy the payment link will be going down tomorrow at 9PM. Get your payment in before then or forever keep your silence. If anyone would like to join the GB PM or Email me. Thanks

Guys I am in contact with a vendor who manufactures/sells alarm systems specifically made for e36’s (they plug into the BMW pre-wired alarm port). These systems are pretty much identical to the OEM alarms made by BMW (sells for $400) but with a lot more features. The price for 10 interested people would be $175 shipped anywhere in the US. This would be great for those on a budget who don’t like being sitting ducks for thieves. Also installation is EXTREMELY easy and can be done by anyone in no time at all – the company even offers live tech support via phone or web. Let me know if you guys are interested and we can start a list. The features are as follows:

Anti-Scan Technology, which will protect it from the high-tech thief.
State of the art BMW Alarm System.
Duel-Zone Adjustable Shock Sensor (Plug-in).
Ignition Smart Auto lock and Unlock (Programmable).
Double Lock - Dead Bolt Feature, locks your BMW Doors in such a way that they cannot be opened even from the inside. This feature is active only when the alarm is activated, and not when the ignition lock is on.
EWS I, EWS II, and EWS III Compatible. This acts as a Starter Disable Protection (SDP) and Fuel Pump Disable. Your BMW cannot be started without ignition or gas.
Parking Light Flash, visual confirmation.
This system plugs into your BMW Alarm Port.
Remote Keyless Entry, Doors and Trunk (does not pop the trunk open).
Remote Auxiliary Output for Remote Start, Window Module, or Pager.
Silent Arm / Disarm with Parking Light confirmation.
Active / Passive Locking, locks your BMW automatically after 30 seconds, if you forgot to lock it with the remote.
Comes activated and ready to install. No need to bring it to your local BMW Dealer to activate.
Remote Panic, for personal security.
Valet Mode, used to over-ride your system when your remote is lost or to program a feature.
Passive Anti-Hijacking Feature, personal security (Selectable).
Horn Output for BMW OBC Horn, (available on some BMW models).
One Year Warranty, Extended warranty is also available.
Step-by-step illustrated installations manual.
Unlimited Technical support by Phone or Email, even on the weekends and the holidays.
Proudly Made in the U.S.A.

Does it make like seven different tones or does it just honk the horn? Also can you roll up the windows with this alarm like you can do by holding the key in the lock position?

the horn does have different tones. It does not have a window roll up module.

Just wanted to point that out. Didn't want pops to miss out on the alarm because of a mistake. Anyway thanks for the offer but I was raped by BMW for the stock alarm a couple years back.

ok guys I already have this alarm. so far from installing it, it is in general pretty easy, but:

1. 12pin connector does not come with a harnesss. All wires have to be pluged in individually.

2. alarm horn is logically un mountable to oem pop in tab wire mounts.

3. diagram and instructions are kinda iffy.

I got the alarm working though and its pretty nice. I had to splice the wires and extend the alarm anntenna (which is just a wire itself) all the way through the headliner to the mirror and the range is decent. I am going to however email these guys to give me a more detailed diagram or instructions on how to get the alarm horn with the oem horn or whatever. A good alarm with a good price even at $199 its just as good as the extra $100 for the oem one.

are you sure your car was prewired for an alarm system? Everything should have went perfectly smooth if it was.

to check if you car is prewired pop your trunk and look towards the left hand side. You will see a little cirlce plastic tab saying something along the lines of "prewired for bmw alarm". Let me know if you are interested before 9PM tomorrow - thats when the GB will stop. Thanks.

no just the horn with the little feet piece attached to it. You need to use the screws that came in the package to screw it onto the metal support bar right ontop of the headlight.

its a cord tucked near the passenger side headlight. There is a alarm DIY on bimmerdiy.com - Pretty much similar instructions.

tomas3314 - for future reference:

Here's a pic of the "pre-wired" buttons. They're sit on the ds trunk liner in my '95 318ic. They're readily visible, so my guess is that if you haven't noticed them, your car isn't pre-wired.

the 12-pin wireing harness is removable! you can remove it and bring it all the way out of the dash...
