Car is clean and done right. He paid $12 and has dumped 40K into it. Asking 30 grand.
What do you all think? Thanks
billyhead 04-27-2005, 03:47 PM I think that is a bit steep for the car, even with all of the mods.
As a seller, you can't expect to recover even 50 cents on the invested dollar in your mods....
Just my two cents as a former E30 M3 owner. You might also want to bounce this question off of the E30 M3 SIG list.
Bill
Jiberwacker 04-27-2005, 03:51 PM Thanks. All mods have less than 4k miles on it. Chassis has 123K. This guy planned on keeping it forever, but is in financial trouble and has to sell. Then engine alone was 25k with labor!!!
dawgeatdawg 04-28-2005, 01:26 AM ya...i would say 20 tops
M-tinker 04-28-2005, 12:37 PM I've seen in other forums proper 2.5L conversion goes for ~$15k. $25k for this motor seems on the high side.. but then it depends on the time/attention to the details.
Jiberwacker 04-28-2005, 04:39 PM It was done flwalessly. Assuming so, what is a reasonable offer? Thanks.
gobuffs 04-28-2005, 07:08 PM 30k is too much.
I sold a similar car (Cheeca built 2.5) prepped for the track for less than $16k.
M-tinker 04-28-2005, 07:25 PM For me ~$20k, maybe $22k max. Personal preference plays a big factor here for high $$ car.
Cheers.

If he's strapped for cash you should be able to negotiate it down
MR 325 04-29-2005, 03:35 PM 25k on a motor, do people know no limits?
Offer him 25k, no more
Jiberwacker 04-29-2005, 06:40 PM Yup. 9 for the motor and 16 in labor. Owner has dumped a good 40K into this thing and it shows. Gorgeous car inside and out. Would kick ass on the track but it is too pretty to risk it getting dorked up.
Mini-Bubba 04-30-2005, 02:24 PM 30k is too much.

I was trying to buy your car :D , too bad it sold so fast, that car was beautiful.
I think I've seen this 30k car on autotrader, he's asking quite a bit, and what do you plan on using the car for, just track? That motor seems like a bit much for a street driven car.
You also have to remember that the value on these cars is dependent on what people are willing to spend. To some people that car is worth 7k, to others it might be worth his asking price.
Jiberwacker 04-30-2005, 04:22 PM I planned on using it for a toy on Sundays. Keep it mint and just drive it once in awhile.
SpecRaceM5 05-01-2005, 12:04 AM i wish i had 30k to drop on a car that i was only going to drive once in a while.
I3uller 05-01-2005, 04:34 AM Is this that one that is for sale around my area. It's silver? And in the Orange County area?

if its what you want and you can afford it then why not buy it?

What are you thinking it is realistically worth? Purchase price . . .?
20k with no pictures
25k if it's as clean as you say it is (I cannot tell since I cannot see it)
TeamZ4 05-03-2005, 03:15 AM I just got $20k for a near stock car with 60k in very nice condition after only 2 weeks on the market
Roadfly ad (http://www.roadfly.org/bmw/classifieds/cars/detview.php?view=30881&sortby=&dir=)
apparently I initally set my sights too low ... :devillook
somebody offered me $15k immediately after posting it on the SIG and I almost took it :corkysm59

I offered him 25k and he came back with 28k as a counter. Too rich for my blood! He may cave in a few weeks.

Gorgeous example!
BIMMERBOYZ 05-03-2005, 10:37 PM 25k is a good price just think it will be worth this much to someone down the road if you take care of it which we all know you will. I would go as high a 26.5k tops ultimate tops though. If it is as nice as you say.
Bimmerista 05-04-2005, 04:45 PM TeamZ4, thats absolutely the most beautiful example I've seen in a while.
Where does that car live now?
TeamZ4 05-08-2005, 12:42 AM thanks for the kind words
supposdly in the Kansas City area
trboblu74tii 05-08-2005, 04:51 PM I would never buy a car that has been raced, modded... and 30k, i'd put that 30k down on a house..

Yes, what do you think?
dawgeatdawg 05-19-2005, 06:49 PM 25 tops...
djminkin 05-19-2005, 07:13 PM Wow!! For that kind of money, there is some really nice supercharged E36 M3's floating around that will smoke the E30 cars, and you can do it with the air on and the 10000 stereo system pumping. I love the E30 M3 but man you can get a lot more power for your money if you step up to a supercharged E36 pushing over 350 HP!!
Jiberwacker 06-28-2005, 01:21 PM 25 tops...
Guy called back and is now ready to deal at 25k. That tells me they have no offers. Although he has invested a ton of money -- it has to be worth it to someone. For a car like this, super clean, with a ton of mods -- what would a monthly budget be just to keep it in primo running condition?
Thanks.
SpecRaceM5 06-28-2005, 01:32 PM Yeah i wouldnt pay anywhere near 25k. Shoulda bought my friends. He ended up selling it for 10k because he needed to sell that weekend because he is moving. Thing was clean. Put it this way. There was very little wrong with it and it had a 12k dollar stroker motor in it and it sold for 10k. I doubt there are many out there worth 25k
djminkin 06-28-2005, 04:46 PM The only cars that are going for the mid 20's and up, are stock low mileage perfect cars. I know of several that have recently sold in the 23-26 range, but they have been stock cars, with maybe a few bolt on mods (wheels, chip, filter), nothing severe, but all the cars have had under 55K on the clocks. A molested car like you have described is worth as much as someone is willing to pay, but have little value to collectors, who are really starting to drive the market up on the cars like I described.

....... maybe.
But thats no different then kicking a man/woman while there down.
djminkin 07-02-2005, 09:44 AM If thats your thinking, I have some oceanfront property in Kansas I'd like to sell you. :stickoutt

I feel sorry for you, that you live in Florida.... especially this time of the year- hurricanes, shark attacks, etc. :lol
project86 03-03-2006, 01:42 PM Where in OC is it? I'll go look at it and let you guys know what its really like.
newbimmerguy 03-03-2006, 06:09 PM last post on this thread was in July of 05. It's probably not for sale anymore.
Nolllies 03-03-2006, 07:35 PM That is extremely expensive, one thing every individual modifying their car should understand is the complete inability for you to get anywhere near your money back. Granted that this guy put a grand total of 52K into this car and he is only asking 30K. This is nowhere near market value. If the seller were smart he would be parting the car out, understandably he is in debt and needs to get some quick cash. Which makes me question the validity of the 40K worth of investments. How does one spend a grand total of 25K on an engine? If this individuals goal was merely to get a hold of a lightweight N/A powerful engine for a given dollar figure, then there are cheaper solutions. Just ask yourself "If this engine were to be built from scratch and sold on an open market, would anybody really pay 25K for it?" Maybe it is just me being naive, it is possible that there is a niche market someplace out there with people willing to give up a years worth of work for a finely tuned engine. But it doesn't seem likely.
