View Full Version : So we got our first E90s in today...
This morning the truck rolled up with our first E90 shipment. 2 330s and 2 325s. This would be the first good look I'd had of them in person as I had just caught a glimpse of one at bfest. If you don't like the 7, don't like the 5, then you're not gonig to like the new 3 is the general rule of thumb. Personally, I think its hidious and looks worse in person than in pictures. From head on it looks like its retarted since the headlight lenses are staggared. Teh rear looks like a kia and it looks like a corolla from the side. And the front looks like it got smashed in. I think its ugly from every angle. However it does not look AS bad in black. The interior is typical bangle style, and looks the best out of the 5,6,7 in my opinion. So if you like the bangle interior, you'll like it, if you dont you'll hate it. Just like the exterior...
The drive!
2 salesmen and I took the 6 speed 330 out for a quick ride around the block, I drove it about a mile maybe. The engine and exhaust sound VERY similar to and e36 m3 and feels like it has about the same power. If you were blindfolded and driven around you coudl swear you were in an e36 m3. It feels slightly torquier than the s52. The shifter is short and crisp and the clutch is very shallow. Braking is excellent and handling is good as well but feels a bit loose in the rear and when pushed and overall it definatly drives better than it looks. The front seats are very comfortable and hold you in place very well, this was a sport model btw, definatly an improvement over the e46s seating I think. I'm curious to know what the auto and the 325 feels like and I'm sure i"ll get the chance later this week, but I'm definatly impressed with the performance compared to the 330 zhp.
I'll take my camera to work tomorrow and snap some pics :redspot
Cereal Killa 04-26-2005, 10:04 PM Just arrived today at my work as well. Went for a quick drive in the 330 and the feel was amazing I think. Looks could be better, but for the feel it was great.
I dunno if i would call it amazing... but it was a nice car to drive/ride in.
SCed m5, now thats amazing.
Daved 04-26-2005, 10:25 PM If it feels like an E36 M3, it can't be that bad :D

its hard to explain, its like someone shrunk an e60 and put an s52 in it. It still drives like a boat in comparison to an e36.
cleoent 04-26-2005, 11:07 PM thanks for the write up, make sure you add to it after you have more then a mile of drive time...
breakin period? heheh
this car was broken in when it had less than 5 miles on it. hahaha
PriNzEsSNiNa 04-26-2005, 11:34 PM I think the 06 3 series looks pretty nice. It seems like a lot of people think it's ugly though. :( Do first year models have more problems?? :rolleyes

It looks nice if you think hundai styling looks good.
e90fanatic 04-27-2005, 01:39 AM I see some of you work at dealerships. I am currently shopping for the E90. can I get any deals from you guys?
PriNzEsSNiNa 04-27-2005, 04:50 AM It looks nice if you think hundai styling looks good.
it just looks like a smaller version of a 5 series kinda, doesn't it? is it worse in pictures than in person or something??
quackman 04-27-2005, 05:34 AM It looks nice if you think hundai styling looks good.
Objectively, how does it look like a Hyundai?
If anything it looks different from most cars and has a hint of BMW 3 styling throughout the exterior.

Lets see... it has no door moldings, has japanese lines and has door handles from a corolla and the rear end looks exactly like a kia with a roundel on it. I just think its ugly and does not flow well at all. The front is pushed in and the rear is all squeezed together. I hate it. It does not look like a 3 AT ALL.
sirtiger 04-27-2005, 11:51 AM o great.... I guess I will hate it...
mbanks21 04-27-2005, 01:51 PM We got ours in today. Black is definately the best color but theyre still ugly as sin. The front looks like a retarted version of the Swedish Chef, the rear looks like a Hyundai, the car is overly sharp and pointy. The interior is very good and I havent had a chance to drive it yet but Im sure it handles very well, I just cant get over the exterior...
mbanks21 04-27-2005, 04:59 PM Dont know why the first one came out blurry but it makes the rearend look better. The front is a lot flatter in person than in the pics
cleoent 04-27-2005, 05:01 PM hmmm, i like it from the front and the back, from the side it doesn't look that good.
PriNzEsSNiNa 04-27-2005, 05:20 PM I went to the dealership and saw it today, it's really not bad. Everyone makes it seem like the ugliest car ever. Maybe you'll get used to the body style change - it's not as ugly as some people are making it out to be!! ;)
E90Toad 04-27-2005, 06:59 PM Dont know why the first one came out blurry but it makes the rearend look better. The front is a lot flatter in person than in the pics
Picture 2 is a 5 series :confused
cleoent 04-27-2005, 07:00 PM Picture 2 is a 5 series :confused
hmm i think you're right.
sirtiger 04-27-2005, 07:45 PM ^^weird...
mbanks21 04-27-2005, 08:43 PM Oops, maybe. Someone might have moved the car. Ill doublecheck tomorrow
dunski 04-29-2005, 01:22 AM Dont know why the first one came out blurry but it makes the rearend look better. The front is a lot flatter in person than in the pics
The third pic makes me wanna puke, especially with those stock rims.. MY GOD!
I hope they are better down the line (M3, 330 with a performance package)
I need to see these in person.
mbanks21 04-29-2005, 08:54 AM Youre right, it was a 5. Looked so much like the new 3 I accidently snapped a pic of it
natureboy 05-02-2005, 03:04 PM my God thats ugly.... :thumbdown :round :rocketwho

Mr. Pot....meet Mr. Kettle...
j/k
witeshark 05-03-2005, 12:34 AM I think there is a lot of excessive criticism on the E90 here. I like it! :)
e90fanatic 05-03-2005, 12:32 PM I think the Bangle style is often hated before people actually start growing into it. It's just a fact. Once you see new bmws everywhere, u'll start to wonder, it's not that bad. then...d@mn I want one of these! at least that happened to me :stickoutt
maxse01 05-04-2005, 11:57 AM I like it.
The redesign on the 750 is making me really like the new 7 as well. Before i just tolerated it, now i might actually say "i'd own that some day"
Jarlaxle 05-04-2005, 10:44 PM Its strange, but the 330i sport looks fantastic, while a standard 325i looks down right sad.
But since I'm planning on getting the 330i sport, I'm not concerned. I thought it looked great and much better in person than on paper. It made the e46 next to it look down right ancient.
Consider me sold.
paintpro21 05-05-2005, 04:43 AM i sat in one at Laguna Seca and the dash board pissed me off. but i was in a car without a nav. so i might look ok with one. all i know is without it, they might as well have turned it into an ironing board or something since its so damn long and flat

That's cause the 330i sport had the lower sports suspension, bigger tires and brakes. Make a HUGE difference when looking at a car. :)
Sebaflex 05-05-2005, 09:14 PM i went to the dealer today and took a look at it...
they had a Silver 330i with Sport/Premium ... i think it looks pretty darn nice front AND rear..
i wasnt expecting it to look that good in person.
RRdawho? 05-07-2005, 03:36 PM If i have to lower my expectations just to be pleasantly surprised to look at a car, I don't think i'm gonna like it. Im sticking with my E36, I'm hoping bmw will mark the Re-Birth of the E30 with their 1 series.
well its been about a week and I still think they're ugly. Since I posted, i've driven 2 more e90s and i'm still impressed with their performance but they still aren't very easy on the eyes.

Imo the e90 is way better looking than when the '99 e46 launched. I'll take the sharp angles over the soft rouned look anyday. They look more defined and aggressive. Although not perfect, I think the biggest mistakes are the wheel designs.
