all right i need some help guys. my 94 E36 is having problems with it CD changer, every time i change over to it gives me a ERROR screen or a DISC ERROR and when i push any number of CD it reads no disks when they are in there. now when i want to eject the cartridge it does not eject and the little green eject light is not on. it seems that it is not getting any power. plese let me know what is wrong :help or what may be wrong. if it is major i am going to change the whole setup but would not like to do it right now. need help as soon as possible. thanks:D

Perhaps it's not plugged in or cam undone somewhere along the line? Check the connection points behind the changer, at the amp or head unit, one loose wire is all it takes.

Also, some of the changers need to be "reset" once in a while, and back on the changer itself, look for a tiny little round insert/inlet, just big enough for a pencil tip (like the tiny one on one of those Ironman watches). Insert the pencil tip, press hard and hold for 2-3 seconds, sometimes that resets it.

If the connections are good and there's no reset option, you could be screwed, a CD could be stuck and it's jammed, or it could have fried...

How old is it, what model, what make???

Check www.unofficialbmw.com - I think there are instructions on how to get the cartridge out of the CD player. Then, you may be able to see what's wrong with the thing.

here is what you do...

start car
put radio on CD so it reads disk error
go to trunk
hit eject button

Now, when it doesnt eject, insert credit card under the center of teh magazine and it will eject the magazine

Now empty magazine

insert

it should then shuffle the disks and return the stuck cd to the magazine

If it doesnt shuffle, just credit card it again and put it back in

eventually it will shuffle and the head unit will say disk check

Thats all, usually fixes it after 2 trys. Reinsert CDs and continue listening.

i got the magazine to eject but it stills reads disk error when i put it back in what else could be.

once magazine ejects, then you take all CDs out, then reinsert

hit eject button, then card the magazaine to pop it out

continue until it starts whirring

then it will work again

Previous owner had this same problem, then lost the magazine. Anyone have an extra magazine and willing to sell/ship?
