Ok, I got a 2000 540i and I'm not sure if it opens or not. Call me stupid, but I don't wanna pull on it to hard and rip something out. I can move it back and forward, but does this thing open???? :help

if it's the panel above the radio, just push on it and it will flip open.

are you talking about the center armrest? If so, most likely yours will not open. Just slides front and back. You can buy the storage compartment center armrest if you want to store stuff there, also gets rid of the stupid phone tray.

I think that is just for the top. You still need the tilting base and the storage tray. Mine was $330 from Crevier for the leather armrest, tilting/sliding base and the storage tray.

Not sure what happened but I got 51-16-8-196-936 Console Cover which was the entire kit, black vinyl tilting armrest w/ the storage tray for $121.60. I am looking at the invoice in front of me... That is all that I ordered and it came with everything I needed...

Sounds like you got a good deal then! When I bought mine they had the vinyl one with tilt/slide, and storage try for $270... I figured I might as well spend the extra $60 or the leather!
