Anyone know of any websites or manufacturers that sell or produce wheels to fit an e28?

Looking to upgrade the 14's (bad-*ss, aren't they?) on my '86 535i to some decent 16's or 17's, but every wheel I can find has a 75mm center bore. The e28's have a 72.5mm center bore. I know I could use a hubcentric ring or spacer, but I really don't want to go there unless I absolutely have to.

Hub-centric rings aren't that bad. I use them on my Mille Miglias. Most E34 guys use them on their rims as well since no one really makes the smaller hub diameter wheels anymore.

www.tirerack.com has lots of different styles. If you need spacers or hubcentrics - they'll include them.
Plus - most 5 and 7 series rims have the same 5x120 bolt pattern with reasonable offset -- around 20mm. The later 5 series will require some hubcentrics to fit the rims I believe.

I just bit the bullet and ordered the e39 18" Alpina's for my e28 M5. They run 8x18 et20 on the front and 9x18 et25 rear. After looking at the overall widths of the stock tires, I pretty much came to the conclusion that I will put 225/40r18's on the front and 265/35r18's on the rear. Should look pretty good.

I hate to burst your bubble, but EVERY aftermarket wheel will have a hubcentering ring in it, otherwise the wheel manufacturers would have to make and stock a bizillion different wheels. I suggest you stop beating yourself up and just get a set of 15" bbs from an E34 with a set of 215/60-15 tires and enjoy. Remember, a 17" wheel on an E28 is similar to an 18" on an E34, and that's not +2" over a stock M5 setup.
