....being in the headers? i am wondering because i plan to run a straight exhaust to the muffler via SuperSprint or something of that nature. if say you do get pulled over because of the noise and they happen to look underneath the car, will they know that the cats reside in the headers and not after the headers? just food for thought...:)

You think a cop is actually going to look under the car? I'd be surprised if they did that. My guess is that they would just give you a ticket and be on their way. They have other things to do besides look for cats under a car.

They usually simply issue an inspection citation.

Its impossible to see the cats unless you lift the vehicle completely and even then they are tucked up and under an engine cover

All the cop has to do is goto the rear of your car and smell your exhaust fumes. I was behind an E46 M3 af B-fest and I already knew that he was straight piped. The smell of a straight piped car is nearly impossible to miss or mistake. Cops are trained for this sort of thing.

Cops are trained to sniff exhaust fumes ????????? :lol

Yes, tell the police officer to go to the back of your car and inhale poisonous gas! :eyecrazy

You dont even have to go behind the car smart a$$. If you've never smelled a straight piped car or cannot distinguish the difference, you're a moron. Just like the smell when cats go bad, or the distinct smell of cigerettes or marijuana, theres nothing else in that has that smell. :rolleyes Ask NickC what happened when the cop came knocking on his door and asked him to open his garage and fire up his M roadster.

HAHAHAHAHHA my friend got pulled over for his exhaust, he has SS race w/ X & S pipes w/ the resonators bypassed. He told the cop his car was stock, the cop said "Oh wow, I guess that's what you get for having a sports car" and let him off :rofl

Been there smelled that, your wording was too funny. I had to mock it. :D I know lots of cops. None of them were trained to sniff out no-cat exhausts, but maybe some are?

That's for damn sure. I just went to strait pipes and the smell is certainly unmistakeable. Smells like a lawnmower.

i live in chicago too, our cops are way too fat to look under the car. The only problem you may have is when you take it to emissions.

Well if you moving soon, why care. Just do it and have fun. In all the times I have had my B&B. I have been pulled over zero times. Even though my exhuast is to loud, and oh man does my car smell.
