I will be in the market for a 05 M3 model shortly, between projects oversees and traveling, I seldom have time to nail down the hard facts. I 've been on BWMusa.com and built several m3's and got a good feeling for the many options and packages. Ok..let's talk insurance - 1) Is the m3 considered a sports car for insurance purposes? If not, what catagory does it fall in?? Next - 2) I plan to purchase my vehical in MD, what dealers(stealers..I've learned something already :D ) in MD offer good customer service and have a pretty decent stock of vehicals?? Also, what's the average turn-around time when ordering a new vehical(M3) from the factory??? Last question 3) how good is BMW financing?? is it cheaper to go with a bank or credit union or do they have pretty reasonable rates...???

Thanks :)

I'm sure you can find plenty of answers to your questions by searching.

To sum it up:
1)Insurance is not cheap.
2)You aren't going to find a dealer with many M3's sitting on the lot. Discounts can vary widely between dealers...shop them all.
3)In my experience Credit Unions are cheapest.

My driving record is pretty clean, I was driving a POS 98 ford explorer and went to an 02 M3 and my insurance increase was $200 annually.

I totaled my last car so my insurance rate nearly doubled when I got the M3. A 5 min call to your ins company is the best way to find out.

The best financing is whatever has the lowest rate. I shop around and get a good rate before I buy. Then at the dealers I tell them they can finance it if they meet or beat my best rate AND match the price I want. I'm sure they get a commission on financing so this a bargaining ploy.

Finally the best price is a CPO (cert. pre-owned). I picked up mine w/ low miles, new condition, 100K warranty included, at $18K less than the purchase price new (depreciation, no gas guzler tax, lower tax on a lower price). BMWUSA lets you search for CPOs right on their site. It has been great. :)
