View Full Version : 4.5 Mile Road Course Near Salt Lake Neil 04-21-2005, 02:32 PM http://www.lhmse.com/mmPark/ DarkGift 04-21-2005, 03:42 PM I think the "official" URL is: http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/ Should it ever move to another server. Larry held a meeting in late Feb to go over details of the track. He's hoping to have it available by the end of the year, though I'm not betting on it til Spring '06. There should be another meeting coming up soon to go over more details (rental rates etc.) They were waiting for the right soil conditions to break ground at the time of the last meeting. It'll be so nice to finally have a local track. cdraayer 04-21-2005, 04:22 PM That track is really going to be awesome. Any status updates (i.e., have they broken ground yet)? After all these years, YES! DarkGift 04-22-2005, 11:02 PM That track is really going to be awesome. Any status updates (i.e., have they broken ground yet)? I've not heard a peep from them since the Feb meeting, but those 3D videos are new on their site. I've dropped them an email and asked our Road Race Director (M Rob) if he's heard anything. I'd guess Rob will either post here, or if he posts on our local forums, I'll relay it here. While the track certainly looks promising, after so many failed attemps, I don't think I'll believe it til I turn my first lap. Then I'll probably need to take few 100 more to make sure I'm not dreaming. ;) ;) ;) M Rob 04-22-2005, 11:15 PM No major updates to speak of. We are booking some dates for next year. I will be talking to the project team next week, I'll let you know if there is any update on the next meeting. cdraayer 04-22-2005, 11:20 PM Great! Do you know Ms. Ashburn? Also, new to their website are the 3D views - pretty cgi, but cool! M Rob 04-22-2005, 11:22 PM Yes I have met and talked with Carolyn a few times. cdraayer 04-25-2005, 01:42 PM Yes I have met and talked with Carolyn a few times. I've sent you an email (to whichever address you have on file w/ bimmerforums) about her, your response would be very much appreciated. TIA DarkGift 04-26-2005, 04:01 PM From the Miller Motorsports people: Good news! We're breaking ground tomorrow, Wednesday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Miller Motorsports Park. You're welcome to attend the brief ceremony that Larry Miller has arranged for the media, the Tooele County Commissioners, and any interested parties. :redspot cdraayer 04-26-2005, 04:08 PM From the Miller Motorsports people: Good news! I'll snap a few photos. Dark Helmet 04-26-2005, 05:33 PM wow, that looks like FUN!!! sunir 04-26-2005, 11:11 PM From the Miller Motorsports people: Good news! TIA Is she hot or something? ;) Sunir (& others), solely based off of experiencing his previously designed tracks, do you think this will be a "world class" course as Larry and Mr Wilson has proclaimed? While he seemed to build himself up pretty well in the meeting, I would like to hear what the racers who have experienced his tracks have to say about his designs. sunir 04-26-2005, 11:45 PM Is she hot or something? ;) Sunir (& others), solely based off of experiencing his previously designed tracks, do you think this will be a "world class" course as Larry and Mr Wilson has proclaimed? I personally love Alan Wilson designed tracks...VIR is just pure amazing...Beaverun will be incredible when the South loop is built...I've never driven Kershaw or Barber but heard great things about Barber...Pro races and plenty of series' have come through Wilson's tracks... I'd say it's safe to say it can be a world class track...you've got a good designer, one of the best in the business...Wilson also cares about witdth, elevation, transitions, among other details including the facilities/amenities at his tracks....you guys will hopefully be as happy as I am with his work :) euro4life 04-27-2005, 12:01 AM I personally love Alan Wilson designed tracks...VIR is just pure amazing...Beaverun will be incredible when the South loop is built...I've never driven Kershaw or Barber but heard great things about Barber...Pro races and plenty of series' have come through Wilson's tracks... Dark Helmet 04-27-2005, 12:08 PM truthfully, this track looks like a complete BOATLOAD of fun..... it seems to have relatively fewer "180s" than many other tracks I've seen built recently. I see several configurations that would be screaming fast and a lost of fun for racing, as well as some highly technical configurations that would bode well for schools.... M Rob 04-27-2005, 12:15 PM The new website is up. DarkGift 04-27-2005, 12:28 PM You can see the tracks he's designed here: http://www.wilsonmotorsport.com/public_html/code/maps.htm I thought he did a great job with the infield course at Vegas, (which is the only track of his I've run.) DarkGift 04-27-2005, 12:30 PM The new website is up. Note that you need to use: http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/ The first URL posted here still goes to the old info/site. M Rob 04-27-2005, 08:34 PM I attended the ground breaking ceremony today. Was cold and wet but exciting. Only new detail was the annoucement was that Alan Wilson has accepted the position of General Manager for MMP. This is great news because of the great connections he has. Expect to see some national-level events as early as the '06 season as a result. I will be meeting with Alan and Carolyn in the upcoming weeks to discuss SCCA's involvement. ramblinwreck 05-01-2005, 12:42 AM I guess VIR's 4.2 mile Grand course will soon loose it's title as the nation's longest road course. :( |
