Hi,

I'm the original owner of a stock 1988 E30 M3 and am in the process of doing a partial interior restoration. My plan is to replace the original front seats with E36 M3 Vader seats (these have already been purchased and dyed to match the interior).

My question is how do I go about modifying the mounting brackets to accept the new E36 series seats? Do I need new mounting brackets? Has anyone on here mounted later series seats into an earlier series car? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Tom

I don't think he means E46. They didn't come with Vaders. The E36 M3 came with Vaders. Either way, I tried doing a search for this install as well. No luck though. I heard that LukasBMW or something like that has a site that has this write up. But like I said, I couldn't find it.

I just recently installed some Vaders in my E30 M3 and man, they are SICK! Pm me or send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can't give you a write up for this. Just to let you know, expect some headache....But not a lot ;)

They look darth vaderish with the headrest up, hence the name. There was no single namer.

I tried this before. The seats are alot heavier than stock. fitment is not too great, not a direct bolt in. get some recaro srd and you be alot happier. just my .02.

Me, The vaders do look good on my bro's car. He has some schroth harnesses too, so they mesh good with his car since it's red. You have to make a custom bracket if you want these to fit on there. I installed these on my brother cars and it took about 3 hours for one seat and then the next day it took another 3 hours. I thought the 2nd day would have been easier seeing as we knew what we had to do, but still, it took a good 4 hours. The driver side shouldn't take long though, maybe like 1 or 2 hours, if you do the right prep work. All and all, it was worth the wait, because those seats look good.
