I removed the drivers's seat and rear seat cushion to lay some audio cables now my air bag light is on. Light stays on constantly. I've tried disconnecting the battery for a while no luck.

any ideas?
there are 3 connectors under the front seat. are any of them related to the airbags?

You need to take it someplace like a dealer, or a good BMW independant, to get the SRS light reset. Most reset tools, unless you have a real expensive BMW specific code scanner, won't be able to do it. The light doesn't go out on its own - the only way to turn it off is to have someone do the reset. Disconnecting the battery won't do anything, either.

Jim's correct and that's not something to mess around with, seek out a dealer or a competent BMW shop for the reset.

Where are you located? I'm in Thousand Oaks, and I've got an SRS reset tool.

I believe that two of the connections under the seat are airbag related and will throw an SRS light if disconnected. One is connected to the buckle (for the seatbelt light on the dash) the other is for the pyrotechnic pre-tensioners on the '98+ seats. The third should be for seat heater (I'm assuming you have them).

Chris, I'm located in granada hills (SF valley).

you're correct there are 3 plugs at the base of the seat. I don't think I have heated seats though.

does your reset tool perform other functions such as code scan and reset service lights? I'd like to get one if it's multi functional.

Alan,

I'm only about 20 minutes away if you want to get together to reset your light. The airbag reset module will reset the airbag light, oil service, and inspection lights.

I have another module to read engine codes (the Peake Research reset tool).

Let me know if you want to get together to reset your light.

I have a 95 and just installed a Corbeau TRS drivers seat. I put in harness eyebolts, but also mounted the factory seatbelt receptical for daily use. I plugged the sensor wire back into the recepticle, but I forgot to disconnect the battery when I did this, so when I started the car, the airbag light was on. Strangely, after driving for about 10 minutes the light went off. All is well.

Maybe different with the 95s', who knows

Update. Installed the steering wheel and built the 3.3ohm resistor/plug thingee. Reconnected battery. Airbag light is on. Damn.

I guess I'll just remove the plug...

I stopped by the place I bought the car from. The mechanic there is a nice guy he reset the SRS light for me with his "gadget". It even told him it was the driver's seat. Didn't charge me a dime.

I've talked to 1 of his long time customer he's quite competent and reasonable so if anyone on the west side/LA need service for their BMW....
