This just took place last week. This is not what I heard nor about a friend of mine but its me and I need some input from you BMW enthusiasts tht know your $#@%...
On Thursday morning I went to work out. I returned from the gym at 7:15am and parked my fully loaded 2002 745LI [black w/ 19" Chrome sport wheels] in my underground parking garage and went upstairs to shower and dress. When I came down to go to work at 8:30am, my car was gone. In the 1 hour and 15 minutes that I was upstairs, my car got jacked from my underground garage. It was obvious that this was not an amateur joy ride theft due to the timing and the fact that this car does not use keys to start up but rather the computerized radio remote. Later that evening two of my neighbors told me that they saw the guys. My neighbor was opening the garage gate to leave and a newer black mercedes rolled in w 2-3 guys in it. 10 minutes later another neighbor saw the Benz sitting there and a guy in my car but thought they may have been friends of mine, so he just waved. With the value of its parts on the market, I have a feeling that this is the last that we will see of my BMW. I am really leaning towards this being an inside job from someone in the smaller, independent dealership that I purchased the car from. They would have access to my address, my VIN and would possibly be able to program another radio remote to use on my car. Does anyone out there know of any other way to steal this car (other than towing it). Please advise...I plan on purchasing a new one and do won't to be prepared to defend it this time around...It was a nice 5 days of driving her.
