I took my car to the stealer for warranty svc and found out the transaxle and/or rear axle was loose (separate thread). I went back in the afternoon to get a loaner, and I saw my car zip off the lot??? It seemed strange to drive around in a car with serious drivetrain problems? :confused I told my service advisor who said it may be the head Mech. checking it out.

So I fill out the loaner paperwork, and zip! Back comes my car. The svc advisor and I, who are a hundred yards away, can hear it clank as it shifts! :eyecrazy Out hops a sales yutz and a 17 year old kid (his son? newphew?). He says he may have this one sold. The svc advisor and I glare at him like we just found the village idiot humping our wife :mad . He eventually realizes he was joyriding in the wrong car :nono . I can at least believe he meant to go joyriding in a dealer car because they did have another 2002 silver SMG there, but the kid fit the profile of a pizza delivery dude, not an M3 shopper. We have some wealthy neighborhoods near by, but the kid wasn't even the one driving :mad.

I was too pissed off to do anything civil while I was there so I decided to wait. Now should I do something like call the sales manager or general manager? I don't want to be a jerk, but they were joyriding in a broken car that could have been further damaged or had a major failure and caused an accident. It is just stupid and not the kind of behavior I'd expect from a BMW dealer that charges a fortune to it's customers.

You should have jumped on that right away as you could have easily pointed fingers and got backup witnesses to help your testimony towards the service and general managers. When you go back now, they are just going to pass it off as a random complaint.

Sad, but true....

My svc advisor was there, he was pissed too. My coworker who dropped me off saw it too. But if I complain - what really happens? It's all warranty work so I'm not paying anything.

PS this happened at United BMW in Roswell, GA. I'll post this to the GA forum as well.

complain...some good will come out of it.

either complain and get something free out of it(oil change, car detail, alignment, whatever) or complain so they will be more careful next time with other peoples property.

whatever reason you decide...complain
dont let them get away with being so stupid

once it took me 4 times to call to schedule an oil change,so when BMW of america or whatever called me to see how everything was i give them a poor grade and i complain about it to them,so next time i took my car for a service the service advisoty guy asked me not to give them a poor grade anymore, but i told him that i was being fair to them.

I called the sales mgr this morning and before I could explain anything he knew what had happened. My svc advisor had already told the sales mgr and gen mgr. He apologized and let me know they had another 2002 Silver SMG that was in service getting certified to be a CPO.

He said he was completely shocked and assured me this was a complete accident and had never happened before. He apologized and assured me he and the gen mgr and he would be talking to assure that the keys will be handled better in the future.

So no real freebies, but it was a free svc visit anyway. Sounds like it was a genuine accident and that the management definately admits and apologizes for the incident. Hopefully this was an isolated accident. I'm debating whether I go there again. If I do I could certainly hold this over their head for at least the next year :stickoutt

Yeah that sounds like something they'd declare.
