dear members,

I wanted to share my experience about my new Active Autowerke exhaust.
I have tried Gruppe-m titanium, Dixis titanium and they were rattle and super loud for my taste. After all, I decided to go with Active Autowerke`s stainless steel exhaust system with 80mm tips. (and of course,as usual, I customized it by painting the tips to flat black, it looks awesome :) )

now the car sounds very DEEP and Sporty compare to others I used, its like
a MIX of Eisenmann/supersprint type sounding exhaust.

I personally recommend it for everyday driving and track uses.

Please let me know if you like to get more information on this great Active
exhaust system. I can get very good pricing if couple people want to get.

I got one recently, along w/ other upgrades, and it is nice. It sounds harsh when cold, and rumbles a bit at lower RPMs (2-2.6 K), but once it is warmed up it sounds great to rev, and I can feel a more immediate accel. The instructions and hardware were perfect and the fit and finish are excellent :) .

Once my car is out of the shop (another post), I'll get it dyno'ed and do a write up of the mods and their benefit.

Welcome to the club :D

no seriously, I have been in M3s which had eisenmann, hamann, supersprint
g-m,dxs, and many others but the most deep sounding without bothering your
ears has been the active`s. I think for its price and sound its a very good product.

anybody here rather than me and kevlar?

I also recently put this exhaust on my car. I am very happy with it, the sound, the look and the performance. With the AA ECU programming and K&N filter complimenting the exhaust i can notice a very distinct difference in acceleration between 5500 and 7500rpms. The car pulls EXTREMLEY hard now. I bounced on the highway Sunday and layed into it for a little bit, couldn't beleive when i looked down and i was passing 150. :buttrock

Very satisfied customer.

well I could say the same experience! I also have the Active`s E46 M3
Stage -I software and its a B I G difference in take offs and high run after 100 miles an hour even my car is on auto mode with DSC off; the ECU chip really helps/performs in a very responsive way! I am very pleased with the optimum performance gains...

With the price that you will be paying for the SS race you can get the AA muffler + software.

I think that will yield more power, IMO

Borla, deeper and better, plus you get actual HP. Go to AA's website the exhuast yeilds like .7rwhp. I have my cats out also, with the stock mid pipe and it sounds bad ass.
Jerry-My car sounds totally different than Davids, very very litttle rasp, only when you turn the car on, and when you floor it its a hair louder. PLUS at 80mph, it is quiter than stock, so dont know why your guys is so loud inside the car, but with the borla, K&N intake(not the drop in) AA software, rogue pullies, and the cats out the car on motor is nasty

Active`s exhaust system is a good choice for you..
and like Jerry says, Ss race is around 1850 but you can have the Aa exhaust
system and the ECU upgrade.(I guarantee you will be amazed with chip)

pm me if you like to get a quote..

horsepower for e46 m3. I will be doing my dyno at Active and post from
here and lets see if any different compare to 2004 models.

AA is the way to go. I'll be getting the new K&N 63 intake and the AA software soon. This should give me an additional 25+ HP. The intake itself gives you around 18 HP.

Is that dyno comparing a stock 2001 M3 to a modded 2003 M3? I'd feel better about the claims if it were the same car dyno'd before and after exhaust installation. Only because stock whp for E46 m3's can vary by 10 or more.

Not trying to poop on your exhaust thread. I like the AA. Might put it on gf's '02 M3. Just wondering if you have other dyno results...

I like the looks and sound of this exhaust, but I have been reading a lot of threads/posts where people have been having problems with these. The welds break, which makes me think twice.

I got the chip after my muffler and AFE CAI. The upgrade was almost undetectable. I have not seen any big benefit nor does AA's website claim much. Their dyno results are as follows;
-AA muffler (+12HP)
-AA ECU update (+12HP)
-AA Stage 1 - muffler, K&N filter, and ECU update (+12HP)
They use the EXACT same info and dyno for ECU update as they use for Stage 1. Does this mean if I already have a muffler there is no reason to add an ECU update? Shouldn't there be different dyno's for the ECU update alone vs. the full Stage 1? I tried asking these questions to AA, but there is no reply yet?? Is there any Dyno that shows what the muffler and ECU combo should yield?

Why would you waste your money on a AFE intake? Did you read what Victor typed? $300 shipped for the K&N that gives actual horsepower! Call AA first off, emails go so slow they probably get them by the thousands. 1 305 233 9300. Ask for Joseph he will help you with whatever you want. I saw the AFE dynoed, nothing special. I got the AA software, and buddy you must be on crack, cause it is like riding with the sport button on 24/7 and even more intense with the sport button on. AA makes the most quality, reliable products out there. Joseph, Karl and Barry are the shit!! Victor, when I get the $ you will get my order for the K&N, good price for me!!!

RPM_M3

I got the AFE because there was no K&N when I ordered it! I also bought the AA Stage 1 a week before they announced the $1200 price. I have amazing timing. :(

I seriously felt no big deal w/ the software. Is there a way to tell if they screwed it up? I haven't been on crack for days, and I resent the implication. :stickoutt

What is your rev limiter after the AA software? Also, i've heard you barely save any weight with the AA muffler... I have the Dinan unit and I love it :)

8,000....same as stock. They do not up it, since there really isn't any power advantage in going higher up. You only get more roadspeed in each gear.

AA unit is lighter than stock, not significantly...but it's still lighter. The sound is also amazing! :buttrock

yeah, that's my hang up with the AA unit as well. Most others offer pretty decent weight savings...whereas the AA is only 6 lbs. lighter. :(

Anyway you guys can make a lighter (25 lbs or so) exhaust with the same sound as the current one? :D

when upgrading the rear muffler, it might be logical that going with one thats 38 pounds lighter than stock like the gruppem might show more improvment in the butt dyno, simply becuase its that much lighter....
