OK, so i went to california tint based on several recommendations by members of this board.
Bottom line, NOT HAPPY
It was $220 for a M3/4 50% tint. They use Suntek tint. I think this is a semi-metallic hybrid of some sort. Its still a dyed film. anyway, now the windows have these little dots, like miniature bubbles, and one of them, the tint has a crease. so i call them a week later, since apparently it takes the tint a full week to dry, and tell them i'm coming in to get it fixed. they say, "sure, come on by" i drive my 1/2 hour get there, and the first guy that looks at my car says its normal "just dust, nothin we can do about dust", then they say, and "BMWs have felt grooves in the window, felt gets in the tint, happens all the time". Then the second guy comes out and looks and does offer to fix it but says "come back on a sunny and hot day" and i look up at the big blue sky, "film comes off real easy on a hot sunny day". and then i complain about all the frayed rubber moldings around the outside of the windows. they apparently size the sheets against the exterior of the car and whip out a razor blade and do it freehand. i have little cuts in the molding everywhere, the guys offers to clean it up and whips out the blade AGAIN and starts trimming...I was like :bigun2:
so i came home, the tint still looks like crap and based on their customer service thus far i expect no resolution. All i can say if for your guys in DC area, while there are some people with good experiences, there are enough bad ones that i think you can find some place better.
