Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum and new to the M3. I am so excited, my car is in production and I should have it the 2nd week of June. I ordered the Convertible M3 in Silver Gray with Black Interior loaded with all the options. This is really a dream come true and I can hardly wait!! I will post pics as soon as it arrives but here is one off the BMW site.

I have a few questions I hope you guys can answer

1. Where does the Sirius radio antenna get installed on a convertible? Any pics?

2. Is the SMG hard to learn to drive it properly or easy to pick up?

3. How long is the break-in period and what is the highest speed and RPM you recommend during this period?

4. Anything else you think is mportant for a new M3 owner to know and do?

Thank you so much for any help, I would love to see any pictures of someone's same same car if they have one. :)

I'll answer the Sirius question for you:

If you let the dealer install it, they will most likely mount it on the outside of the trunk. When Howard Stern moves to Sirius, I will bite the bullet and do the upgrade. I did some research and found out that you can mount it INSIDE the deck lid of the convertible top's storage area and it will work fine and be out of sight too. My buddy has an X5 and mounted his under the spoiler and it works fine. I talked to the Sirius guy at Bimmerfest and he said under the deck lid is perfect.

Good luck and have fun with your car.. I know I do!! I'm sure we'll run into each other at one of the local meets.

Best Regards,

Tom.

All of these questions have been already covered, but i'll give a brief synopsis here.

1. on the trunk is where they install it.
2. no... easy to learn, you just have to adapt to it.
3. there is a sticker on the windshield and a page in the manual that tells you the following. do not exceed 5500 rpm or 100mph for the first 1200 miles (no full throttle). For the first 3000 miles, no extended speed over 130mph and no extended time over 7000rpm.
4. plenty of information in this forum, just take some time to read it all ;)

What Kev said plus be sure to post up some pictures when you get it. Sounds like a beautiful color combination.
