I sourced some nice Recaro seat out of a Triumph, but thet appear to be originally from a VW GTI.

My rails on the 2002 are about 19" apart, and the ones onthe recaros are about 14.5" apart. How does one make the adjustment to make these fit? I know it has been done before.

I did it. Its a simple idea, but it was hard to do becasue im an idiot. I'll post pics and tell you what I didnt when I find the pics. I posted about it in one of these threads.

Couldnt find those pics, so here are some new ones. These arent quite Recaros, but the distance between the tracks was 14.5 (I think). My old setup had the seat rails sitting on a set of "crossmembers" that crossed the two humps in the floor. The seats were too high, so I made these drop brackets. Its hard to see in the pics, so ask away. I can get you other pictures if they are needed.

Thanks for the pictures, they do help. I will be removing carpet and old seats today, to get a better idea of what i need to do. Your solution makes sense. If i need further photos, i will let you know. What did you use to make the additional rail you mounted on the side?

The thin piece of metal that hangs over the origonal mounting points is 1/8 in angle iron. The other piece that siticks out that the rails are bolted to is 1/4 in flat plate steel. They call it "weld plate" or something like that. I MIG welded the two pieces together. Its a simple weld, probaly the easiest you can do. Almost anyone could do it with a few hours of practice.

The seats i got i have pictured below.

Anyone know where i can get the same fabric, so i can do an insert to match on the rear seats. I checked RECARO's website, with not luck. It would look cool if i could get the fabric to match, or at least real close.

Also, does anyone recognize these seats? Maybe from a VW GTI perhaps?
