My friend just bought a used car and it had a system in it already. We took the sub out and the amp but we are not sure what to do with these two pieces.

The large red wire infront runs to the battery. The smaller red wire on the top right runs to the amp we need to keep, in the middle top is a large silver wire that ran to the sub amp which is now gone. The blue wire on the top left runs to what is pictured below. We need only the small red wire and the large one to be connected. Can we just unscrew the two others and leave it like that?

Here is what the blue wire runs to

my guess is that since the sub is gone he will no longer need this. Of course the blue wire runs to positive and the black to negative. The black wire runs under the seat and i guess it might be grounded underneath somewhere. I didnt want to just disconnect it yet until I found out a little more about it. Any help would be great.

Yes that will work. Unscrew the blue and silver wires, then take out the capacitor and sell it on Ebay.

And make sure the large red wire has a fuse that's close to the battery.

yup.
and I'd check the ground too while you're at it. A sh*tty ground can make for some big problems. Just make sure you have metal on metal with no interference such as paint in between wire and chassis.

thanks guys, i figured thats how it would be. Their is a fuse right next to the battery but I dont recall seeing another ground other then the one on the capacitor...im sure their must be another but could it be that thats the only one?

i guess it is possible that the ground was done through the cap. If so, youll need to ground the amp that your leaving in there. Its really easy. Just take some wire and and screw it to any bare metal from the chassis that is less than 3 ft from the amp. I ussually just drill a small pilot hole then use a regular screw and a washer to hold the ring terminal on the end of the wire down.

cool, ive done plenty of grounds before so it shouldnt be a problem once i figure out if theirs another ground or not. hopefully everything goes smoothly :buttrock
