I need to vent. I recently purchased a 05 325i from Town & Country BMW in Toronto. The car was picked last Saturday, but the first thing i noticed that there were spider web scratches over all the car and some were pretty deep. Anyhow the sales person promised they will fix it for me or if the scratches are serious enough and they will replace the car for me... i was not very pleased at the time. since the sales person said they were going to replace the car, so i guessed it wont hurt to get the car. i thought i was going to get a replacement and i didnt think too much about it... ! I called back the sales person monday to see when i can get the replacement. but no, the sales person wanted me to bring the car back to the dealership and the manager have to inspect the car to see if the scratches are bad enough.. Give me a break! its a brand new car! it shouldnt have any scratches in the first place. Then i knew they will not get me a replacement. So this morning, my wife and i dropped off the car and took the license plates off the car. And we told the sales person that we are not taking the car because of the scratches, plus we felt like that we paid for a new car but got a demo. Waited the whole day, NO ONE contacted from the dealership! then i decided to give the sales guy a call, guess what he didnt answer...... i was furious :mad then i called the sales manager directly, you know what the guy told me the car is in a fixable state and they will not replace it. the worst thing is the sales manager didnt even apologize for what had happened. sounded like i'm making a big fess for nothing. man, i'm extremely disgusted with their customer service. I thought a reputable brand like bmw would be different. I guess all dealerships are the same...
Anyway, this will not be the last they hear from me. i'm ready to get the media involved as well as writing a letter to BMW ag.

:mad :mad :mad

please give comments or suggestions!! "like should i get a lawyer?"
Thanks!!!

Once you get the car in your name you can't just take it back and whip off the plates. That's all well and good for dramatics but you must know you're not getting out of it that easy! I am on your side mind you. I think it's disgusting for them to be treating you that way. Were there many kms on the car when you picked it up? You should know if it was a demo or not. You need to go back there in person and talk to the sales manager and let him/her know you aren't satisfied and wait there until your problem is resolved. If it is only about the hood they can fix that up like new. I've never been in a BMW showroom before but I have been through the lot driving around looking at the cars for 15 minutes. Nobody came out. I did get the impression that they act snobbish if for no other reason than they pretend not to see you. I go through any other lot someone comes out to ask if I'd like any help. There has to be someone at Town and Country who will care. Get in there and find that person. Sounds like they have really started off on the wrong foot. You buy a new car you expect peace of mind. That makes me sick!
I bought my 1997 three years ago in Kitchener/Waterloo at Ebytown Motors. They sell a lot of high end cars. I had a very good experience. I bought it one day and picked it up the next. When I went over the car when picking it up I noticed a mark on the rear seat leather. They had a leather repair guy there in fifteen minutes and he painted the mark and it matched up beautifully. Then I went to load the CDs into the trunk and the 6 disc magazine cartridge was gone. I guess the old owner had taken it out. I asked them and they brought out the new one in the packaging that they had ordered for it. Then I had to ask for the second car key and he said he didn't know if there was one but he'd check. He came back out with a key in a little brown envelope and said if that wasn't it then he didn't think they had one. Luckily for them it worked or they would have been ordering me another one. I had to make sure I got what I expected which sucked a bit but they were pretty busy so I understand. The main thing is that they were courteous and attentive and my car has been very good. I bought it with 113,000kms and now it has 130,000.
My brother bought a 2002 330i with M Sport Package but I'm not sure where in Toronto he got it. It was a year old and he said there were some paint chips on the front end of the hood so they repainted the hood for him. When I looked at it I could tell the spray was not uniform but he said he was happy with it since it was better than before. But I'm sure if he had complained when picking it up they would have to redo it.
Anyway the whole point is nobody's perfect. They f'd up and you should have stayed there in person until they came up with a solution. They're so busy trying to screw someone else they don't have time to call you. Don't you get free service for 4 years or 80,000kms when you buy a new BMW? Start asking around for a good independent import mechanic for when your warranty runs out. That's when you'll really hate your dealer.

That's a sad story. The salesman was probably in no position to offer to replace the car.

Remember, though, that once you sign the papers and drive off the lot, the car is yours. When you take delivery on a new car, it should be free of defects. Refuse the car if this is not the case, and accept it only after the dealer has finished repairing any defects to your complete satisfaction.

Can't comment on this dealership but what is admin? Paying someone to push some paperwork around a desk?
